Silver's POV~

~30 minutes earlier~

I stepped outside of the building, guessing Hazel would most likely be out here to get away from the crowd. I followed the sound of muffled sobs to her shaking form. I was guessing she couldn't hold it in any longer.

Hazel sat with her back against the wall, knees pressed against her head with her face buried inside. Her body was twitching to the rhythm of every cry she gave. Blizzard sat next to her, sobbing slightly and stroking her arm.

Her head jolted upward, now fully aware of my appearance. She grimaced to herself and leaned her head back against the wall of the building.

"Sorry," she mumbled, tears freely flowing down her cheeks. I didn't respond immediately, but sat next to her instead.

"We're all sad," I told her, "but we're trying to tough it out. For Naomi's sake. For your sake. For Anna."

"You don't know how many times I've tried," she sniffled. "You don't know how important she was to me."

"I know what it feels like to lose someone you love, trust me," I responded and her gaze met mine as she waited for me to finish. "My mom."

"It hurts..." she whispered. "Why her, though? Why not me? Why not Lyra or Gold or anyone but her?" She sounded angry now, raising her voice ever so slightly.

"Don't say that about yourself," I snapped.

"You don't get it!" She threw a hand up and it dropped to her thigh just as quick with a smack. "It could've been any one of us!"

"But it was Anna, not any of us. Stop dwelling over the 'what ifs' because they didn't happen," I countered.

"But it still can happen," she pointed out, turning to face me with a deadly look in her eyes. "Silver, we don't know if Team Rocket is going to hurt, capture, or kill you. All we know is we need to protect you. And if we fail to do so, Team Rocket will progress even further in their plan."

"Stop worrying about me!" I spat. "I can fight. I can take them on alone."

"No, you can't," Hazel groaned, frustrated. "Take one step into their HQ alone, and you'll be dead in the first thirty seconds. I can't lose Anna and you! You both mean too much to me!"

She refused to meet my gaze and quickened her breathing, blushing madly at her accidental comment. I let out a mental chuckle in my head, offering a small grin.

"Your pokemon and your friends are by your side, willing to help you," She straightened her back and tried effortlessly to cover her red face. "Take advantage of that."

"I mean a lot to you then?" I smirked, stroking Blizzard's feather while she purred. "I appreciate it, really."

"Don't let it get to your head," she said, rising and heading to the glass doors.

I stood and followed her, only to have her stop me. She turned around to face me and sighed. I wore a wide smirk on my face, causing her to roll her eyes. This caused her to blush even more, but her emotion stayed serious.

"Keep in mind that it doesn't matter who else dies in this battle." she said, determined. "It only matters that you stay alive. And if you die or get captured.." She paused I take a breath as Blizzard climbed onto her shoulder. "Then it's all over."

~Present~

"I don't know how to tell you this, Naomi.." Hazel shook her head sadly. "But, Logan, he's..."

"He's the one who killed your sister," I finished bluntly. Hazel kicked my shin to where no one could see and I winced. I probably deserved it, though.

"No..." She shook her head disbelievingly. "He can't be...Logan and I have been through so much together."

"We're not saying he's the one who killed Anna," Gold put in. "But he's a Rocket, Naomi. I really am sorry."

"I...I..." she stuttered.

"Well, I guess she has to come, now," I shrugged. "She can be more use than any of us."

"Except maybe you," Hazel muttered softly.

Naomi still seemed in a state of shock. Her eyes were wild and she continuously stuttered, not sure what to do. She repeated this for awhile, before spacing out with a distant look in her eyes.

I glanced over at Hazel and her expression darkened, immediately being reminded of Anna, I knew. Naomi's head snapped up and she whimpered softly, calling it a night for all of us.

"Tomorrow we head to NewBark Town, understood?" Hazel clarified and everyone gave silent nods.

We entered the Pokemon Center and stood in line, waiting for a room key. Hazel walked in front of us, clearing her throat a bit.

"It's going to be hard for all of us, but, just remember, we're doing it for Anna," She had a hopeful look in her hazel eyes.

"For Anna," We all confirmed.

~~~~~~
Lyra sighed as she leaned against the wall next to our room door. Hazel entered the card key an pulled it out swiftly, turning the handle.
We all entered, Gold and I claiming a bunk. Hazel slept under Lyra, who plopped on a top bunk, and Naomi slumped on the extra single bed. Lyra let out a groan, shutting her eyes tight.
"Worst..birthday..EVER." she grunted.
"I'm really sorry, Lyra," Hazel cooed sweetly as she stood on her tiptoes to peak over the bunk. "We had a party all planned out in NewBark Town, but never got to do it. It was even Gold's idea!"
"Thanks, you guys," Lyra sat up, directing the statement at Gold rather than the rest of us. He grinned at her before throwing his hat onto his pillow. "but, really being here with you is all that matters."
"That's sweet, Lyra," Hazel smiled, grabbing a T-shirt and Nike shorts to change into. "Imma change. I'll be out in a sec!"
"No, Hazel!" Gold whined. "You take forever! Let me go first!"
He rushed to the bathroom door only to have her slam it in his face. I heard her giggle from the inside as Gold pouted and dropped to the floor.
I chuckled mentally, making sure it didn't escape my lips. Lyra couldn't help but laugh, yet Naomi still looked a little distant, dwelling over the past events.
Twenty minutes later, Hazel finally exited the bathroom, plopping below Lyra and across from Gold. Gold grumbled to himself, entering the bathroom sluggishly. After all of us were changed and ready, we all settled down for bed.
I couldn't help but think of Anna that night, dwelling over her flaws and features. Not even a miracle could bring her back now, so why bother, really? The past is in the past; there's nothing we can do to change that.
My thoughts wandered to Team Rocket and Logan especially. My teeth gritted together at the thought. The were trying to kill me. Me.
The already took Anna's life. I won't let them take mine, too.
