Hazel's POV~

I stared at the screen backstage, showing the current contestant's performance. And, damn, he was good. His Cacturne and Arcanine worked together in perfect harmony.

I wasn't nervous. No, not at all! I could feel my palms getting sweaty. It was just hot in here, that's all. My stomach flipped and I felt uneasy. I probably shouldn't have challenged Gold to an eating contest.

"Nervous, Cutie?" a voice came from behind. I let out an awkward high-pitched noise of surprise and the trainer chuckled. "You're nervous."

"I'm not!" I objected. "I'm just...just...yes," I sighed in defeat.

"I understand," He entwined our fingers and I rested my head on his shoulder. "It's your last chance to get to the Grand Festival. I would be surprised if you weren't."

"He's really good," I kept my eyes focused on the screen.

"But you're better," he assured. "Silver, Lyra, and Anna are all out there waiting for you. You're almost up."

I let go of his hand and turned to face him. He wore his signature smirk and ruffled my hair. Smoothing it down, I pulled him in for a quick hug.

He released me before taking Blizzard from my shoulder and cradling her. She couldn't stay with me since I wouldn't be using her for the performance. She tugged at his hat and he chuckled.

"Go kick some ass, Cutie," Gold waved before walking off. I giggled at the comment.

"Now, please welcome to the stage, Hazel Baca!" Vivian cheered.

"Here goes nothing," I whispered, running through the hallway and making my grand entrance.

"Blade! Nina! It's showtime!" I yelled, throwing the two pokeballs into the air. Nina and Blade popped out, posing as the stars from the seals surrounded them. They both used Psychic to form them into one single star. The star exploded, raining sparkles on the crowd.

"Those capsules are simply beautiful!" Vivian fist-pumped in the air. "Psychic added to the effect as well!"

"Now, Nina! Will-O-Wisp!" I ordered over the cheering crowd. She combined the purple flames into one successfully.

"Do it, Blade!" The combo was even better than in practice. Nina and Blade looked to me for approval and I laughed.

"Thank you guys! You were awesome!" I squeaked. They both grinned and I returned them into their pokeballs.

"Those combinations were outstanding! Now let's see what the judges have to say!" Vivian cheered.

"The creativity to come up with those combinations is extreme!" Mr. Contesta praised. "Both pokemon and trainer worked together in perfect harmony!"

"Simply remarkable! The pokemon put in their very best effort," Sukizo added.

"Both pokemon are in great condition; simply gorgeous! I loved the way Hazel used the ball capsule for the opening performance," Nurse Joy grinned.

I waved to the crowd before heading backstage once more. I sighed in relief. My pokemon were so amazing. I was so proud of them both.

I walked into the room, greeted by a slightly familiar place.

"That was a great performance," he grinned. "Hazel, right?"

"Yeah, thanks," I blushed.

"I'm Logan," the boy said, sticking out his hand.

"It's nice to meet you," I smiled back, taking his hand. We both sat down on the bench in front of the TV.

"You have a Cacturne and an Arcanine, right?" I asked and he nodded. "You really stood out. There's no doubt your moving on to the next round."
