Hazel's POV~

We all heard a frill shriek from not too far, followed by rustling in the bushes. Blizzard stood protectively in front of me, claws barred and growling. But it wasn't a wild beast making all the racket- Naomi and a blue little mouse popped out of the brush, both grinning happily.

"Already?" I gasped, and Blizzard trotted over to sniff our newly shaped friend.

"I know!" Naomi squeaked, giggling excitedly. "We'd been training so hard, but I didn't expect it to happen so fast!"

"Believable," grunted Silver. "It does evolve at a low level."

"Can't you be supportive for once?" I playfully punched him in the shoulder, and he rubbed it, pretending it hurt.

"Just saying," he muttered, looking at the ground to avoid my gaze.

I raised an eyebrow and looked at him sitting on the ground next to me. What was up with him? He seemed like he had a lot on his mind.

"I was joking," I said, and he met my gaze, eyes widened.

"No, I know," He shook his head. "S-Sorry."

I decided not to question him further, but turned my attention to Naomi instead. She was giddy with excitement as she explained everything to Lyra an Gold.

"--really scared at first, but I convinced him it would make him stronger. And then, it all happened so suddenly, he evolved into Marill!" I caught the last words of her frantic rant. Gold smiled in an approving way and Lyra nodded gleefully.

"That's great, Naomi!" Lyra congratulated. "And congrats to you, too, Marill!"

Lyra released an identical pokemon to Naomi's, beaming. The two pokemon sniffed each other a bit before running around in circles, chasing each other.

"For him to evolve into Azumarill, now, all you need to do is gain his friendship," Lyra explained.

"I'm really happy for you both, but we should get some sleep, 'kay?" Gold offered. "Victory Road won't be easy on us tomorrow morning. I say we'll be at the Pokemon League by 4:00 at least."

"Does that give us time to challenge it?" Lyra asked.

"I think," Gold scratched his head. "Possibly."

"I can't wait," Naomi grinned.

~~~~~~
The next morning, I woke up bright and early to the smell of eggs wafting into the tent. I looked around the tent, noticing Naomi and Marill's lack of presence, and immediately inferred she was making us breakfast.
I sighed happily as the smell of mixed salt and pepper filled my nose. Inhaling deeply, I confirmed no one could make a better breakfast than Naomi. She picked up a lot of tips from Anna.
My eyes fell on Silver lying next to me, fast asleep. My eyebrows furrowed together as I wondered why he was still asleep. He was usually one of the first to wake up. I mentally shrugged the thought off- he probably didn't sleep well last night.
I turned to face him, his long, dark red hair half-covering his face. He snored only slightly, body slowly moving up and down as he did. I poked his cheek, causing him to squint his eyes shut tighter, concluding he was awake. He slapped my hand away, turning his back to me.
"Wake up, Sleepyhead," I cooed in his ear and I could practically feel the shivers go up his spine. "Naomi made breakfast."
Silver sat up slowly, scooting slightly away from me as he did. Lyra and Gold were yawning and stretching by that time, welcoming the new day.
"I smell eggs," Gold said immediately, shooting up to a sitting position.
We all gathered outside and Naomi handed out plates, each with two eggs(except Gold's which had five). Despite Gold having more than the rest of us, he finished first, rubbing his stomach delightfully.
We all helped clean up, Lyra, Naomi, and their Marill helped to clean the dishes. Blizzard and I cleaned up the picnic blanket we used for a table and the supplies on it, enclosing it away in a bag. Silver took down the pitched tent, rolling up all our sleeping bags as well. Gold finished whatever food was leftover.
After we were all done packing up, we started down Victory Road once again. As we got nearer and nearer to the Pokemon League, less and less trainers had started popping out. The trail got harder to follow, many obstacles blocking our path, but we were all determined to make it.
The pokemon on the road really fascinated me, each of them somewhat rare. Ursaring, Rapidash, Arbok, Raticate. I even added a Skarmory to my team I decided to call Skar. Gold had said they were particularly rare, and I needed to add a Flying type to my team, anyway.
"Only another two hours," Gold informed us, leading the way across the dust path.
Two trainers chattering ahead of us broke the awkward silence between us all. The two seemed vaguely familiar...
"Don't," Silver whispered harshly in my ear.
"Hey! Twave, Ray!" I called, waving. Silver had daggers in his eyes, threatening to dig them into my skin.
"Hazel!" Twave jogged over to us, Ray walking behind her. "On your way to the Grand Festival on the Indigo Plateau?"
"Sure am!" I chirped. "And everyone else is challenging the Pokemon League."
"So is Ray!" the brunette added
"By the way, this is Naomi. Naomi, this is Twave and Ray," I introduced.
"Hi there," Twave grinned over at her.
"Hey," Ray gave a small wave.
"Nice to meet you," Naomi greeted.
"Lyra, Gold, Silver," the coordinator nodded towards them. "It's nice to see you all again."
"You too," Lyra smiled softly as we continued to walk.
We all made small talk as Indigo Plateau grew nearer. I let out Skar at half an hour to go, just to break the silence. I talked to him in a whisper so no one would here, although Silver was staring directly at me the whole time. Skar responded respectfully, not fully trusting me yet. We were getting there, though. It would just take time. I could tell he would be a loyal and respectful pokemon.
We reached a small cave separating us from our victory or devastation. I returned Skar as we entered the cave, anxious to get to the other side. Not many pokemon caused us any trouble, but a few attacked for us being on their turf. I could understand that, though.
"--Boss will be upset."
We all froze at the familiar voice ringing through our ears. I held Twave and Ray back with one arm, preventing them from walking further. I placed a finger over my lips, signaling for them to be quiet. I peered around the edge of a boulder as my eyes settled on a person I did not want to see. Suddenly, his eyes widened and his phone almost fell out of his hands.
"You-You found it?!" he gasped into the phone. "Yes--yes--I'm on my way!"
He hung up quickly, releasing an Alakazam. They both vanished into space to a location unknown.
"What was Logan doing here?" Lyra asked.
"And where did he go?" Gold added onto the millions of questions I was sure was racing through all of our minds.
"Who knows?" Silver shrugged.
"Who was that guy?" Twave asked no one in particular.
"I'm not sure if I could give you an answer," I sighed.
