The next day came too fast. My groggy mind soon enough became clear as I hugged who I had come to call Goat-Mom goodbye, promising that I wouldn't forget her. This would be an interesting story in the history books.
She had told me how to exit the Ruins, and I followed the path that she had described. As I walked further and further down the hallway I noticed that the flowers and grass slowly started to wilt. She had not been down here in a while.
As I reached the large door that would mark my exit, I looked around. Was this what the world outside would look like? Dead?
I exhaled and opened the door, hit with a blast of cold. I thought about going back for a moment but then reminded myself of the mission.
I was determined to get back.
I stepped out and closed the door, noticing that this was, in fact, a forest. A very snowy forest. I started through the snow, which was a bit thick, but I honestly couldn't care. I was on a mission and I would not be distracted, by anything.

There was one thing that could get my attention, though. After a few minutes of walking, I heard a twig snap. I stopped and looked over my shoulder, seeing a broken twig. Or branch, because it was quick large. I walked back and examined it, a slight frown appearing on my face.
Who could have broken this so easily?
I shook it off and continued to walk, checking over my shoulder and around every once and a while.
It was only when I caught a moment of black fabric moving behind a tree that I started running. He was following me. Death had been following me this whole time.
I slipped through what I could only assume was supposed to be a gate, and continued to run.
"SANS!" I heard a loud voice call, making me stop cold in my tracks.
I ran off to the side, hiding behind a tree. I half-peaked around. Sans floated down to someone; another skeleton who towered over him even when he was half-floating.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" He asked, his voice loud and outgoing.
"Just around, Paps. Why? You miss me?" Sans replied, teasing him at the end.
The other skeleton sighed, "STOP BEING FOOLISH, SANS! YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO!"
He laughs, "I was doing my job, Paps. I was hunting down a human who needs to be dead."
I felt myself start shaking and I hid behind the tree fully. Why was he so adamant on seeing me dead? Was I supposed to be dead?
"THEY'RE DOWN HERE? WHY WOULD A HUMAN BE DOWN HERE?"
"I don't know if they're really human, bro, but I'm pretty sure that they aren't supposed to be here. They heard a sensitive conversation earlier and I don't need anyone hearing the information. Even you, bro."
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?"
"To search. What else?"
"SANS, WAIT--" But the other brother was cut off as Sans presumably disappeared.
He sighed, "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH YOU?"
I heard the footsteps fade away from ear rang as he walked away. I peeked around the tree and checked both ways before beginning to walk again, sticking to one side of the path this time.
