Toriel's POV:

I ran, feeling the air brush by me quickly, checking over my shoulder. He was still struggling with her and I ran faster, already seeing some red from the damage she was already doing.

I knew I would have to leave, to leave the Ruins, but I'd rather not do it alone. But I knew I would be alright out there, there was an army of monsters who would be against Chara and no one would kill me. We all understood the balance.

I heard the footsteps behind me and the giggles and knew that she was catching up. I ran quicker, one more corner, and I would be alright.

I could see the door in the distance.

"You really think you can get away from me, mother?" Chara shouted from behind me.

I felt tears sting my eyes, "Y-You are no longer my child! Y-You are a demon!"

I heard her laugh again, but there was something behind it, an undertone that I'm sure I could only hear. A tone only a mother could hear.

I quickly whipped any escaped tears and opened the door using my body, my side slightly tingling after the impact. I turned around and slammed the door shut, Chara just a few inches away from the door when I did that.

I held my weight against the door until all went quiet. I heard the sound of a wind, a whispering, dark, wind and black dust drifted through the bottom of the door. I held a hand over my mouth and slid down the door, pulling my knees close to me, crying into my hands for a while.

W-What had happened to her? Where had I gone wrong?

Sans' POV:

She had escaped. I had heard the slamming of the door and the strange wind that always happened when Chara made her great escape.

I groaned as I attempted to get up. Everything hurt. . .

I fell down as soon as I made little ways up, gravity making everything ten times more painful. My breath became ragged as I tried to teleport. I did, but I only teleported to where the exit to the door was. I was trying to get outside, but that was close enough.

I knocked on the door, the sound weak and my arm feeling a bit numb. I could hear crying. . . I knocked again, trying to be louder. The crying went quiet for a minute and I tried to speak.

"Tori. . ."

The door creaked open and Toriel took me into her arms.

"Oh my God, Sans! A-Are you okay?"

I tried to let her know indirectly that her touch hurt me more, "I-I just n-need to get to S-Snowdin. . ." I narrowly managed.

"I-Is there anything I can do?" She sounded very panicked, and with good reason.

I shook my head and she let go.

"C-Can you teleport?"

I nodded and then snapped my fingers, teleporting ways away, but not to Snowdin yet. Toriel ran after me and as soon as she was close enough I teleported again and waited for her to catch up. We did that until we made it to Snowdin. I pulled myself up, not with ease, and slowly made my way to my brother and I's place.

Toriel knocked on the door for me, still leaning down to make sure that I hadn't passed out, though the world was starting to get really fuzzy and dizzy looking.

I heard the door creak open and the figure of Papyrus, who immediately picked me up and ran inside. Everything hurt more, my brothers touch only amplifying the pain, as Toriel's touch did.

"T-The human. . ." I managed.

"WHAT ABOUT THEM?" Papyrus asked me, blind panic in his voice.

"C-Chara. . ."

Toriel realized what I was saying, I knew it from her facial expression.

"I will go. She is in danger."

"WE'RE ALL IN DANGER. YOU NEED TO STAY HERE; YOU ARE LIFE. AND AS EVIDENCED BY BOTH OF YOURS WOUNDS, CHARA DOESN'T MEAN JUST TO HARM YOU TWO."

"We can't just leave her to die!" Toriel fought back with her words.

"WE CAN'T LET YOU GO AND DIE EITHER!" Papyrus snapped, something I rarely saw him do.

Toriel sighed and sat down, putting her head down in defeat. The warm feeling of healing then filled my senses. The pain began to ease.

Frisk would have to be strong, for both our sakes.
