"Who was that?" Glancing over at Eli confusion is written all over his face, and quite possibly a sprinkle of jealousy. Smiling slightly I pinch his cheeks laughing at his frustrated face. "He's just some guy I met today. He actually really weird but he's cool when you get past that." Chuckling he pinches my nose causing it to crinkle automatically. "I don't think you have any room to call someone weird Ani." Gasping and slapping him in the chest my lips purse and I cross my arms ignoring the laughing brute next to me.
As he continues his merciless teasing, God finally seemed to give me a break as another one of my friends rounds the corner. "Liza hey!" I shout across the hall laughing at her frazzled response. Finally she notices me and Eli and a smile lights up her face. We wait as we watch her skip over towards us black skirt flowing and her multiple bracelets clanging on her thin wrist. "Hey Ani!" She beams at me subtly giving Eli a stink eye.
Liza hasn't like Eli since middle school when he questioned the relevance of bees in our ecosystem. Ever since then she only refers to him as.
"Oh hey PK." Her strange abbreviation of planet killer.
Rolling his eyes at her nickname he smiles and greets her in return. Ignoring his response, she turns towards me curls flying behind her as her brown eyes twinkle with happiness. "Ani you won't believe what just happened!" Not even giving me a chance to respond she squeals "Christian just agreed to come with me to the grand opening of the new animal shelter to help them out!" Enthusiasm and love spewing out of her mouth.
Smiling as I realized how much this meant to her I pulled her into a hug squealing along with her. Christian is a classmate of hers who's caught her eye after he too shared his anger at the town decision to tear down a forest for a shopping plaza. It was at that moment that she knew she was in love with the boy. "It's going to be amazing! Ani I need your help getting dressed it opens tonight and I want to look decent."
Frowning with guilt I sent an apologetic glance at her. "Sorry Liza but I have a date with Eli tonight. Why don't you ask Blake, she should be able to help." Her face darkens at the sound of his name but immediately perks up at my suggestion. Swiftly nodding her head she smiles and turns on her heel walking in the other direction. Probably looking for Blake now.
Sighing and turning to Eli I give him an unimpressed look. "You have to make up with her. I can't have one of my friends hating another one of my friends." He smirks and I'm caught in his smoldering gaze and rendered speechless. Inching his face closer to mine his lips ghost over my own and have them tingling with anticipation. Kiss me. Kiss me. Kiss me! My eyes trail to his lips and watch as they turn into a crooked smile. Then his cheek grazes mine as he angles his mouth towards my ear. "I think we can both agree we aren't exactly friends Imani."
Leaning back he smirks at my flustered expression. Snapping out of my daze I pout my lips glaring up at him. "You aren't funny." I say giving him a dry look. Eyes twinkling with mischief he smiles showing his white teeth and the cute little gap in between his front teeth. Whispering completely inappropriate things in my ears, my eyes widen continuously and my face gets hot. Thank God my blush isn't visible. It's clear that he can see the effect he has on me because one look at my face has him throwing his head back letting out one of his deep throaty laughs. "And you said I wasn't funny," he gasped out still laughing at my expense.
Realizing why he was doing my eyes widened even more out of embarrassment. "You asshole!" I shout as I mercilessly assault his chest with my fist. Laughing even more he grabs my wrist pulling me flush against him resting his head on top of mine. Smiling lightly I turn my head resting my head on his chest allowing myself to get pulled into all that is Eli.
The moment is ruined when the warning bell shrieks out reminding us that we are still in school. Sighing slightly he kisses the top of my head wrapping a heavy arm across my shoulders. "Alright. As much as I would love to keep holding you, we actually have to go to class." Trying not to let my dissatisfaction show, I smile up at him falling in step as we continue to class.
**************************
After Eli dropped me at my class I enter the torture chamber known as AP Chemistry. Rushing over to my seat I pull out my books before the teacher can notice I walked in literally 20 seconds before the final bell. Scanning the classroom I grimace at the lack of friends I have in this class wishing I had at least one. During my studying a head of black hair catches my eyes as I recognize the head it's sprouted out of.
"Hey Park I didn't know you had this class." I called across the room causing everyone to turn and look at me. Ignoring the ignorant things being said around me and the glare of my teacher, I make my way over to the empty seat next to him. Offering him a toothy grin I mentally laugh at his embarrassed pink cheeks.
Although he's a little strange, Parker isn't unattractive in the slightest. He's tall and lean, what most people would consider lanky, with jet black hair styled in a way similar to Dylan O'Brien. His jawline strong and sharp but his soft grey eyes remove any assumption that he's a scary guy. A light dusting of freckles dance across his face again removing any intimidation factors he might've had, and tan skin void of any acne or blemishes making me jealous of his perfect skin.
His skin was steadily gaining color making me realize I had be studying him and his whole time. Smiling softly I glance away from him paying attention to the formulas scrawled across the board. Just like that I'm sucked into a world of science perfectly fine with never leaving it. I can faintly notice the shaking of his leg as it steadily bounces up and down.
Up. Down. Up. Down. Either he's ADHD or nervous.
Laughing quietly I turn towards him placing a hand on his knee abruptly stopping its jumping. His eyes widen at my hand and snap to my own as his face burns a bright red. "Parker if you keep bouncing your leg I swear I'll stab it with a pencil." I laugh as a sheepish smile makes its way across his face. "I'm going to go with my second assumption that you're nervous to have me sitting close to you. Am I right?" Cocking my head at him a small smile still present on my face.
Chuckling nervously he removes my hand from his knee finally breathing normally. His voice comes out hoarse which he blushes at before clearing his throat trying again. "Sorry it just caught me off guard that you came over here," he laughs quietly. Shifting under my gaze he finally smiles a smile that isn't cautious and nervous. He has perfect teeth. "Did you ever have braces?" I blurt out suddenly catching us both off guard. Smiling he nods his eyes showing his laughter.
Turning back to the lesson I see him finally settle with a soft smile on his face. 15 minutes into class the teacher is called out to handle something involving a homebound student and leave us with problem sets on the board. Swiveling back to Parker "So Park, how about you and Wes come eat lunch with me a couple of friends. To make up for my raincheck." Smiling he nods his head again before turning back to the problems.
Nodding to myself I too turn back to the board working on balancing the equations.
I'm excited for him to meet everyone.
