Not too long after Blake left to go pick up Ryder from practice Imani fell asleep saying that whatever meds they filled her with were making her tired, but she also made it clear that I'm not allowed to leave yet based on her threatening to block me on everything if I did.
While that may not really seem like much of a threat to anybody the thought of her blocking me actually bothered me more than I wanted it to.
Looking over to her sleeping form, my eyes once again are drawn to the small shaved section of hair towards her forehead. I'm not sure if she knows she had the surgery when she was first admitted or if she even noticed me occasionally glancing at the small shaved area. Either way if she knew that I one: saw it, and two: didn't tell her. I'd never hear the end of it.
The room was silent other than her soft snores, the bleeping of the heart monitor and the constant drip from her IV and it's safe to say that I'm extremely bored. I don't see how guys in movies can seem so entertained by watching their girl sleep because even though I've got it bad for Mani, I'm still bored out of my mind watching her sleep. It'd be different if I could watch the movie that's currently paused. It's not like I couldn't it's just that the lovesick part of my brain would feel bad for watching her favorite animated movie ,Ponyo, without her. Which is why I'm sitting in a silent room staring at a paused morphing fish girl.
Again I look down at the sleeping girl who is slowly but surely scooting closer to me which doesn't come as a surprise. She always says that I'm amazingly warm compared to her frozen 'Elsa has nothing on me' body. By the time the door opens she's snuggled herself into my side, head resting on my chest. Looking up my face immediately starts to burn at the sight of her amused mother.
"Well hello again Parker."
Clearing my throat I mutter a "Hi Mrs. Walker." before focusing on the suddenly interesting ceiling.
Chuckling softly she closes the door before making her way over to the different monitors and gizmos by the bed.
"How long has she been asleep?" she questions softly looking checking Imani's monitors and IV bag even though she's technically not allowed to be her daughters nurse.
"About thirty minutes."
"And how long was she up for before she went back to sleep."
"Um. We watch a couple episodes of some anime she was dying to show me before she demanded Ponyo." at that she laughs glancing over at her daughter. "So I guess an hour and a half."
She nods, a small frown on her face before putting down her notepad that she was jotting her vitals down in and turning back towards us with a small sigh. "She's going to hate me for it but she needs to wake back up."
"Why?"
"Well we have to first call her actual nurse in and then they'll have to do small test to make sure everything is alright in her big head." She smiles stroking the back of Mani's head before stepping back to page a nurse.
"Does she know about the hair?"
"Funny story.."
She turns to me with an unimpressed motherly look on her face.
"Now Parker I thought we agreed, I'd let you stay for as long as you'd like as long as you were the one who told her they had to shave some hair."
Wincing I nod with a grimace before looking back down. "I know." I sigh.
