"Josh, Ive never been clubbing before." I say as I cling onto Josh's arm.
"Just stay by my side and you'll be fine." Josh chuckles.
I nod and fake smile, scared that someone would try anything. It was my first time, and I'm glad Josh was there.
~
Me and Simon enter a dusky, dank little nightclub off the beaten path. The smell of smoke and sweat instantly assaulted my nostrils as I inhaled the tight air. My body harshly glued against Simons as we walk through. Simon chuckles at the look of disgust printed on my face.
"Simon, can't we just go? There's no chance I'll get over Josh." I pout.
Simon chuckles and grabs my hand.
"You'll be fine. Come on let's get a drink." Simon drags me to the bar and orders shots.
A man catches my eye. He has brunette hair and rosey cheeks, a bit of a beard but not like Josh's. I look at him and he smiles, showing his dimples. I shake my head and smile downwards.
"What you smiling at?" Simon asks.
"Oh, nothing." I lie.
"Okay, well I'm going to go dance. You coming?" Simon offers but I decline. He shrugs his shoulders and walks off.
I gaze down at the glass Simon handed me, it was filled with orange liquid. I chuck it down my system, gritting my teeth at the sudden strong taste.
"Was that your boyfriend?" A voice asks.
I jump and glance to see the man from earlier.
"Oh, um, no. He's my best friend." I coo.
"So, what's a pretty girl like you doing at a club like this?" He smirks.
"Trying to get over someone." I sigh and look down.
"Is he a crush, or ex-boyfriend?" The guy asks like he cares.
Why's he bothering anyway? What's he going to do with the information afterwards? Is he a friend of Josh's? So many unanswered questions.
"A crush. A really big one." I sniffle. "He has a girlfriend."
"Oh, sorry to hear that." The man apologises. "The names Adam."
"Ellie, my names Ellie." I greet myself to this stranger.
"I can make the pain go away. Do you wanna have some fun?" Adam pulls a plastic bag filled with powdery white stuff, which I'm guessing is cocaine.
"Adam, I-I don't take drugs." I stutters.
"No, I get it. But drugs and alcohol can make the pain go away. I want to help you. How about you come back to my house?" Adam suggests.
"I'm not that easy, Adam." I laugh, like it was some sort of big joke.
I just want Josh, but we can't always get what we want, can we?
"Uh, you seem so hooked up on this guy." Adam replies, like he read my thoughts.
"Huh?" I question.
"This Josh character seems a big part of your life." Adam rephrases.
"How did you-" I stop myself.
"You thought out loud Hun," Adam chuckles.
I bite my lip and rest my cheek on my hand, that was leaning on the table.
"What's the big deal with him anyway? He's probably just another simple guy." Adam questions.
"He means a lot to me. He's my best friend, we've known each other for a very long time, Adam. Josh means a lot to me and it's going to be hard to forget about him." I explain.
"I can change that." Adam smiles. He leans in and our lips connect with his force. I push him off straight away.
"Woah, Adam, you seem like a really chilled guy. But I don't want to kiss you. I should be going." I say and get up, Adam follows.
"Ellie, I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you. Here, take my number. Call whenever." Adam disappears.
There's something strange about this Adam character and I'm not sure if I like it. I clench my jaw as I try to spot Simon through the crowd, he's no where to be seen. I walk around and ask many people if they'd seen a tall blonde dancing, most of them said no. The others? They completely ignored me.
"Simon!" I call as I exit the building in a worry.
"Simon!!" I scream.
Sweat drips down my heated forehead. My breathing becomes hard and heavy. My throat feels wide and stings. The night becomes darker and darker as I run to try find my missing best friend.
I grab my phone from my pocket noticing it isn't there. Fuck.
"Hello!!" I shout for help. No one replies.
I rush back to the club, panting along the way. My ankles aching and rubbing against the leather from the heels I was wearing.
"Simon." I pant.
I enter the club and search once more.
"You've got to help me please!" I shout at the security guard who wasn't doing a very good job.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry but I can't help you. I'm busy." He lies.
I trust no one. But at this point, i have to find someone who Simons been with. He couldn't have gone too far, Simon is responsible.
"You're shit at your job." I bark.
In anger, I leave. I walk down the streets, cold and alone. The high street seems to be busy and full of people. I see a group of people. I noticed that one of them looks a lot like Josh, wait! It is Josh.
"Josh!" I call, stumbling over to him.
"Ellie! There you are!" Josh wraps me in his warm arms.
"Josh, I los-" I stop myself as I see Simon in a crying state.
"Simon?" I question. "I've been looking everywhere for you!"
"I thought you were murdered! I found your phone on the ground and I tried to find you but you disappeared. I heard you scream my name. So I called the guys and they'd rushed here!" Simon explains.
"I'm here now." I smile, hugging Simon tightly.
"I'm glad you are." Josh chuckles.
I smile. I went to hug him but Freya comes over and walks into his arms. I frown.
"Yeah." Freya adds.
I walk to Simon and hold his arm, resting my head on his shoulder as we walk back to the sidemen house.
