[Hermione's POV]
The Firewhiskey scorched down her throat, leaving behind a warm and tingly sensation. Oh my god this is amazing! Why haven't I tried this before? She smiled and let out a slight moan as she took another swig. "Already moaning, are we Granger?" Malfoy grinned at her, "See, I told you Firewhiskey was good."
She gave him a grateful smile, "Thank you, it was really kind of you."
He shrugged, "Well, I'm not always a dick."
She let out a hearty laugh, "You know, if you hadn't made fun of Ron on our first day, we could've actually been friends."
"No we couldn't have, Granger." She frowned while the blonde haired boy looked down at his shoes, "My 'friends' were already chosen for me. Crabbe and Goyle, and besides if my father had found out that I had become friends with Potter? The one who survived His killing curse? He'd kill me for sure. Ever since my father joined His side, he's been using me as a puppet. Using me to do His bidding, telling me I could and couldn't do." He paused, "Granger, everything about me is - is poisonous. I am poison."
Hermione didn't know what to say. Deep down she had always known Malfoy was broken, but he had never showed it. It was like she was meeting him again for the first time. He was different. He wasn't the spoiled brat that used to bully her and call her names, no. He was just a boy who had all his choices made for him. His identity was carved into stone way before he had even had a chance to figure out who he was. It was something so simple yet it was impossible to understand. She moved to sit beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder, little did she know there were dried streaks of tears down his face. "Draco, hey look at me." Stormy grey met soft caramel ones and the world seemed to stop. His eyes looked like broken glass, it was painful to see him like this. She still remembered the way his eyes looked on their first day back after the war. They looked joyful, but fragile. Like any mention of the war was shatter the fragile surface. And that's exactly what Hermione did, she brought back those memories unknowingly. What might've been good memories or her might've been horrible for him, "Draco, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have mentioned it. And I'm sorry that I don't understand what it must've felt like."
He shook his head and smiled slightly, "It's not your fault. Don't you ever apologise." Slowly he leaned into her, his lips parted ever so slighly. Oh Merlin he's going to kiss me. Hermione stayed rigid, should she pull back? Lean forwards? She couldn't do either. She didn't want to hurt him more than he had already been hurt. But kissing Malfoy? It was something she'd never dreamed of doing. All she could do was keep for eyes focused on his lips. He looked up, searching her eyes for permission, before she closed her eyes and leaned in. It was like just how everybody describes a perfect kiss. The world just kind of stopped spinning for a while, just long enough for them to finish their kiss. His lips tasted like Firewhiskey and he smelt like spearmint. Spearmint. Stupid potion. He cupped the back of her neck and pulled her in closer, closing the little space left between them. She ran her hand through his platinum blonde hair, letting the fine strands slide through her fingers. They pulled apart, out of breath. Not one of them dared to say a word to each other. "Granger, I am so, so sorry. I didn't mean to -"
Hermione let out a weak laugh, it wasn't every that you got to see Draco Malfoy feeling awkward. "No, no, no. It was me, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kissed you."
He cracked a grin and continued to drink his bottle of Firewhiskey, "Let's finish our drinks and I think we should head in for the night."
Hermione took another sip, "Yeah, let's do that." And they drank in a comfortable silence.
[Gryffindor common room]
Hermione burst through the door to the girls' dormitories, out of breath. "Ginny, I kissed Malfoy."
[Draco's POV]
[Slytherin common room]
Draco crashed through the boys' dormitories door, slamming it shut. "Can't believe I just did that. I kissed Granger."
Blaise and Theo stared at him in shock, both of them lost for words. Until Theo finally cleared his throat, "Mate, are you drunk?"
"No dumbass, I'm not drunk."
"Why'd you kiss her then?" Blaise was still in a state of shock, his mouth hanging open.
"I don't know! Something just came over me like she looked really hot and she called me Draco." He ran a hand through his hair, "Oh come on Blaise, don't look at me like that."
"You kissed Granger," Blaise finally spoke as Draco gave an annoyed nod. How many times did he have to repeat himself? As long as it takes for me to comprehend the situation. "And she kissed you back?"
"Yesssssss." He groaned and started to get changed into his pyjamas and pulled the curtains around his bed. "I don't wanna think about it too much, night." Today had been a long day.
[The next morning]
Draco rubbed his eyed sleepily, last night's event came flashing back to him. The kiss between him and Granger hit him like a bus. "It didn't happen, it was just a dream." He muttered to himself and made his way to breakfast leaving Blaise and Theo who were still asleep. Today was Friday, just one more day till the weekend. As he made his way to the Slytherin table, his eyes found Granger's. The way she avoided his eye and blushes crimson was enough to tell him that last night was real. He didn't know what was worse. The kiss being real, or the kiss not happening at all. I can't have a crush on Granger. She's in Gryffindor, she's in the Golden Trio. It'll never work out.
"Draco?" He wished he didn't know who that voiced belonged to, a slim hand slithered around his waist. "Draco baby, please don't be mad at me." Pansy moved closer as moved away.
"You don't get it do you? I. Don't. Want. You. What part of that escapes your understanding?"
"But I like you,"
"But I don't! So please," he paused, taking a deep breath, "Stay away from me, if you know what's good for you. And besides, I already have feelings for someone else."
Hey guys!
And there you have it!!!! They've kissed! I've been wanting to write that scene for ages. The POV's were a bit different compared to my other chapters but I might be sticking to just one POV per chapter. So thank you so much for reading and special thanks to myfandom002 for voting for my chapters so far, it means a lot to me to know that people like what I write.
