[Hermione's POV]

Finally it was Christmas. Hermione woke up to a pile of presents sitting by the bottom of her bed, "Hey, Ginny wake up!" The redheaded girl groaned in her sleep, "Come on, it's Christmas!"

"Fine, fine. I'm up." she mumbled.

Hermione went through her cards and presents, she had gotten a maroon jumper with an 'H' on it from Mrs Weasley, some Christmas pudding from the Weasleys, a premium quality quill and a box of her favourite chocolates from Harry, rock cake from Hagrid - which she carefully put aside -  some sort of pranking equipment from George, a makeup bag filled with cosmetics from Ginny and a box of every flavoured jelly bean from Ron.

All of the presents came with a card greeting her a merry christmas.

All except Ron's.

She knew that she shouldn't be making a fuss about something so small but she just couldn't help but feel her heart deflate a little. She turned to Ginny who was wearing her jumper from Mrs Weasley eating some of her Christmas pudding, "Did you like my present?" she said through a mouthful of pudding.

"Yes, and is it just me or does the lipstick change colour every now and again?" Her lipstick kept changing from red, to a dark purple then to a bright pink then back to red again.

Ginny laughed, "Nope. I've bewitched it to change colour," she pulled out a bracelet that had many silver charms on it, "How did you know I wanted these?"

"Ron told me, he saw that you kept looking at them in a muggle shop." Ron. There it is again. My heart just deflating against my will. "Speaking of Ron, have you talked to him about you know, our kiss yet?"

Ginny looked away and busied herself with her cards.

"Ginny..."

"I did write to him but I didn't exactly wanted to tell you just yet."

"Why not?"

"Cause you may not like his response." She reached into her trunk and handed the letter to Hermione, "See for yourself,"

Dear Ginny,

It's good to know that your doing fine at Hogwarts, training to be an auror isn't as easy as I thought it'd be, but Harry and I will manage it. About Hermione and well, our kiss. Trust me, I have been thinking about it now and again but something about it doesn't seem quite right. I mean, I think I thought I liked her and we were pretty sure we were gonna die that day but being with her longterm, I don't know Gin.

Look, it'd be great if you could explain this to Hermione for me. I'd really appreciate it. And is it true that Malfoy's Head Boy now?

Love,

Ron

P.S. Tell her to stay away from Malfoy, he's never good news.

And just like that Hermione knew her answer to the question that has been bugging her for months.

Ron just wasn't interested.

Sure, it's not like he's leaving her or anything. They were still friends but they could never be a thing. "Thanks Gin." Hermione scoffed, blowing her fringe out of her eyes, "He tells you but he can't just tell me for himself?"

Ginny sighed, "I know, but at least you don't have to worry about breaking his heart right?" Hermione furrowed her brows in confusion, "You know, go after a certain blonde."

"What Malfoy?! I do not like Malfoy! We're just friends,"

"Yeah right," she mumbled under her breath, "Friends with an unusual amount of sexual tension."

Hermione rolled her eyes, "Let's just - let's just go down to breakfast."

The Great Hall was filled with christmas decorations, gigantic christmas trees lined the corridors - no doubt Hagrid's amazing work again - and the ceiling had been enchanted to actually snow down. Hermione couldn't help but just wowed at the Christmas decoration. Hogwarts had never failed to amaze her when it came to Christmas or Halloween for that matter. The longer she stood there, the more she was reminded of her first year at Hogwarts, how she had seen everything in the wizarding world for the first time.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" she turned around to seen Malfoy standing behind her with an amused grin.

"Malfoy, what you doing here?"

"Well, it is a public space and I haven't had breakfast yet so I'm quite hungry," He handed her a box neatly wrapped with brown paper, "Merry Christmas Granger, and thanks for Quidditch through the Ages."

"You got me a present?"

He put his hand on his chest mockingly, "How dare you Granger? Of course I'd get you a present, what kind of monster do you think I am?" he smiled and winked at her.

Hermione hid her blush as she unwrapped the present to reveal a black velvet box and inside was the most beautiful necklace she had ever seen. The gemstone was absolutely beautiful. It look like a piece of the ocean, different shades of blue twinkling in all directions. She gasped, "It's beautiful. Thank you."

"Um, hello?" Hermione had completely forgotten that Ginny was still there, "What, you got something for Hermione and nothing for me? Come on Malfoy, you could spare a few galleons for me,"

"Oh I've spared more than a bloody few for you, Weaslette." he waved his wand and a large package came zooming out. Ginny tore through the wrapping and froze when her hand made contact with the newly polished broom handle. "Comet 480, latest one yet. Highest speed of twenty two miles an hour, you're welcome Wealsette."

Ginny gawped at the broom in awe, cradling it in her hand as if it were a new born baby, "Wow, Malfoy. I - thank you this is - Merlin's beard you are awesome."

The boy laughed, "Thank you for reminding of how awesome I am," Hermione rolled her eyes, "But I am absolutely starving."

[That evening]

The four of them had decided to head out for some butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks to finish off their Christmas night. Hermione would be heading home tomorrow and then over to the Weasley's but she wasn't as excited as she should be. Heading over to the Weasley's would mean that she'd have to talk to Ron and one way or another, the kiss would be mentioned.

They stepped inside the warm pub and Hermione proceeded to order their drinks, "Four butterb-"

"Actually we'll have Firewhiskey. Four Firewhiskeys please." Malfoy smiled innocently at Hermione who seemed to have rolled her eyes so far back into her head that only the whites of her eyes are showing.

"Really Malfoy?"

"You weren't complaining when I gave you that first drink in the Heads' dorm," he gave a cocky grin and took a sip of Firewhiskey.

The four of them drank in a comfortable silence with the occasional burping from Blaise and Malfoy. Every time Firewhiskey scorched down her throat she thought of the kiss. She couldn't help but think about how it was such a perfect kiss, how their lips fitted together like jigsaw pieces, and as much as she hated to come to this conclusion, she might like Malfoy. Just a little.

"Her-my-o-neeee." Ginny snapped her fingers in front of Hermione's face, snapping her out of her thoughts. "So, I was thinking that we all are friends now - well, at least I hope so." she looked over at Blaise and Malfoy, "We should start calling each other by our first names."

They all kind of looked away from each other for a moment before mumbling, "Fine."

"Ginny."

"Blaise."

"Hermione."

"Draco."
