exams are finally over and I'll start being active again ^^
[Hermione's POV]
I'm sorry Hermione. But we can't be together.
The moment those words left his mouth Hermione felt the world slow down and her heartbeat quickened. So everything he had said to her only days ago were meaningless. So none of it mattered.
False hope.
All he had given her was false hope. Hermione knew that she had hurt Draco in a way that you weren't meant to ever hurt anyone, but to give her false hope like that? It was cruel.
The world started to fall into motion again, emotions coursed through her blood like raging currents, each one crashing into the other. She felt anger, hatred, sadness and disappointment.
"Hermione, please. Please listen." Draco reached out for her hand but Hermione drew away.
"No. You know what? I was just getting over you when you and when you said that you still loved me, you threw me right back to square one. You gave me hope. Hope that turned out to be false."
"That's not -"
"You told me that you loved me literally two days ago, Draco. And then what? You changed your mind? And I'm left to deal with the consequences."
"Hermione, I can explain."
"Explain? Maybe I was wrong about you and everyone else was right. Maybe you hadn't really changed at all."
Draco's expression darkened, the sympathetic silver orbs froze into icy shards. "Don't you dare. Don't you dare fucking say that, Granger. You don't know what I've been through."
"So it's back to Granger, now?" He had called her Granger before, but only teasingly. This time he had meant it as an insult and it hurt. It really hurt. "You know what? Let's just forget about everything. All of it. Let's just go back to the way we were, you were with Astoria and I was by myself."
"You can't just expect me to forget about all of this." The lines on his face softened and he slowly walked up to her, taking her hand in his, "Look, I will love you no matter what. Even if you absolutely hate my guts, I will still continue to love you. But for now, let me settle things with Astoria. She's been good to me, really good. She was there for me when I felt like I had no one else - especially the time where, you know, when we first broke up. Let me break it off with her gently, let me make sure that she'll be okay with someone else and if you don't hate me with every cell in your body, maybe then we could pick up the pieces and leave where we left off?"
Hermione wanted to hate him, God. Things would be so much easier but when she saw his eyes she knew that he had meant it. Every word, every syllable. So she simply nodded and muttered a small, "Okay." Draco smiled a smile at her that made the butterflies in her stomach flutter and the lips wanting to smile back. How could she hate him? She couldn't bring herself to.
"I guess I'll go now," he headed to the door, only to stop and gave her a small wave goodbye.

It was Sunday again and the gang was gathered at The Burrow once more. The lunch that Harry and Ginny had prepared was amazing as always although Hermione was scared that if Ginny kept working like this doing the things she normally did, if might not have been good for her health. They had lasagne, garlic bread and a glass of champagne each resulting in Harry and Draco having a competition to see who could chug down a whole bottle of champagne the quickest. By the time they had both finished (Draco won), they were both a drunken mess but luckily they were the 'happy drunk' kind of people so it was well... interesting.
