Daryl drove to his parents house a little more quickly than he usually did, not sure if it was because he was kind of wanting to see her again or to get started on her car so he could get her the hell out of here. Pulling into his parents drive and grabbing his squealing son hanging him upside down as he walked, he flipped him right side up as he walked through the door and looked around hoping to see her.
“Nanny!” Luke smiled and yelled and went running to his grandmother as he slid down Daryl’s leg and hit the floor.
Watching his mom smother his little boy with kisses, his heart skipped a beat looking down the hall, seeing Lexi standing there in the kitchen.
“Morning Lexi” Daryl called, who looked at him shyly.
“Morning” Lexi said back, walking into the front room. “And who’s this?” she asked softly
“This is my son Luke, my parents look after him when I’m at work” Daryl said beaming.
Lexi looked at Daryl and could see the pride radiating off of him when it came to his son and she could see why, he was the cutest little boy she had ever seen and he looked exactly like his father, from his crystal blue eyes to his long, shaggy brown hair.
“Nice to meet you Luke” Lexi smiled sweetly
“Hi” Luke said shyly, slightly hiding behind his grandmother’s legs.
Daryl grinned and gave her a wink, chuckling at his son’s shyness around a pretty woman.
“Alright come give your old man some love, I have to go look at this pretty lady’s car” Daryl said squatting down as Luke ran into his arms.
“Bye dad” Luke grinned and hugged him as hard as he could “Me and pappy will catch you a lot of fish”
“You do that” Daryl smiled hugging him back. “Be good and eat your veggies!”
Daryl sighed and shook his head as he watched his son go tearing into the kitchen looking for his grandfather.
“Okay, I’m going to go, hopefully I’ll have some good news for you a little later” he said to Lexi, who was looking at him a little strangely.
Shrugging it off Daryl left through the door, hopping back in his truck and on his way to his garage. Lexi stared at the doorway from where he left thinking the entire time, he thinks I’m pretty! Goodness, I really need to get a hold of myself she groaned internally. Walking back into the kitchen, Lexi smiled at the little boy who was climbing all over his grandfather. She had really never seen three people look so much alike. She thought Daryl had looked a lot like his dad once she met Jack but adding Luke into the mixture it was just crazy to her how three generations looked so much alike. Helping Jane finish making breakfast, she grabbed the plate of bacon and set it on the table.
“You can cook?” Luke asked her curiously
Lexi nodded
“I love to cook, actually” she smiled back at Luke.
“Well I love to eat” Luke smiled “Well, everything except broccoli, I don’t like to eat that too much” he complained
“Oh no? I bet you would like my broccoli I put all sorts of yummy stuff with it.” Lexi said slyly.
“What sorts of yummy stuff” Luke asked curious
“Well all kinds of spices and good stuff but namely bacon” Lexi said, nodding towards the plate of cooked bacon.
“Bacon?” Luke asked softly “I might like it if it has bacon on it”
Lexi had to suppress a giggle.
