"Lexi, you have any idea what you're going to make for the fourth of July picnic?" Jane asked as Lexi helped her make their usual Sunday lunch.

"I'm not really sure yet" Lexi said thinking. 

There was a town potluck fourth of July picnic every year and Daryl had signed her up to make something.  She knew he had done it out of being proud of how she cooked, but she really didn't know anyone else besides him and his family and it made her a little nervous cooking for a lot more people.

"I know what Luke wants you to make, spaghetti and meatballs" Jane laughed

"I know...that kid I swear he'd eat it every day if he could and so would Daryl if you want to know the truth.  Actually the meatball part isn't a bad idea.  I had thought of making bite sized meatballs and cooking them in a secret BBQ sauce that I concocted....I've made them for a Christmas work party and they were devoured pretty quickly.  I usually cook them in a crock pot all day so the meat really soaks up that sauce but I don't think Daryl has a crock pot"  Lexi said, breaking the ends off of the fresh green beans.

"Oh honey, I have several crock pots and you're welcome to borrow whichever you like" Jane smiled "Those sound perfect and delicious"

Lexi smiled and nodded, glad she had finally found something she could make that everyone should like pretty well, especially Daryl and Luke.  It will be impossible to keep them out of them, she smiled to herself.  She'd have to make them their own batch.

"Thanks Jane, mini meatballs it is" she smiled.  "What are you making?"

"Blueberry pie, they asked me to make it every year and every year Luke, Daryl and Jack end up hoarding it so now I have to make two pies, one for them and one for the picnic." Jane laughed softly

"I was thinking the same thing with the meatballs, I doubt I'll be able to smuggle them out of the house without half of them gone.  I'll probably make them their own batch" Lexi laughed

"Own batch of what?" Daryl asked, walking into the kitchen snagging a green bean and popping it in his mouth.

"Your mom and I were talking about what we were making for the picnic and she told me how she has to make you guys your own pie and I said I'll probably make you and Luke your own batch of mini meatballs that I make in a BBQ sauce" Lexi explained.

"Good call, we'd probably eat most of the ones you make for the picnic anyway" Daryl ginned

"That's exactly what I said" Lexi laughed.

"You know us too well" Daryl chuckled, leaning over and giving her a sweet kiss.

Finishing making lunch, the Dixon family and Lexi sat down to eat and enjoy each others company.  Going home after their lunch, Lexi, Daryl and Luke camped out on the couch and watched movies as a soft summer rain continued to fall.  Cleaning up after dinner while Daryl helped Luke with his bath, Lexi tidied up the living room and then climbed the stairs to get ready for bed.    Stopping by Luke's room to see if he and Daryl were still chatting, Lexi listened, not hearing a peep.  Opening the door to Daryl's room Lexi burst out laughing seeing him stark naked laying on the bed with his excitement very apparent.

"Surprise" he grinned

"Surprise?  I'm sorry but you laying naked in the bed with a woody is no longer a surprise for me" Lexi laughed softly.

"True" Daryl smirked. "Time for you to get naked, but do it slowly, I want to watch"

"Oh, you mean like this?" Lexi said seductively, swiveling her hips and doing a strip tease dance while she unbuttoned her shirt.
