I was chilling on my couch, watching Netflix, when I got a text.

Colby: hey Scarlett, happy birthday!

I smiled and replied.

Scarlett: thanks Colby 😊😊😊

Colby: welllllll I was wondering if I could take the birthday girl out to a celebratory lunch?

Scarlett: welllllll I think that would be fantastic

Colby: is 12 good?

Scarlett: yup :)

Colby: great, see ya later scar

Scarlett: cya colbs

I smiled, then received a call from my friend.

"Hey birthday girl!" She shouted.

"Hey Julie."

"Got any big plans tonight?" She asked.

"Not really, Colby's taking me out to lunch, but that's about it."

There was a pause before she spoke.

"You've got to be kidding me."

I was confused.

"What do you mean?"

"That just proves my theory even more!" She replied.

I rolled my eyes at her, even though she couldn't see me.

She had a theory that Colby liked me, but we're just friends.

"Julie, how many times do I have to tell you that we're just friends?"

"Scarlett, you can tell me millions of times, but I still won't believe it."

"Believe me, I know."

We both laughed.

"Well, I'll be over in 5." She spoke.

"Woah woah woah woah wait a minute. Did you just invite yourself over to my house?"

"Uh-huh."

I laughed.

"Okay, but I'm not letting you through my front door unless you have food with you."

"You know it."

I laughed and hung up the phone.

I set it back on the night stand and sat on my bed.

Could Colby actually like me?
