I invited Janie over to my house, and she said she was on her way over.

I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend.

I walked around the house a few times, making sure everything was set up.

I heard a knock on the door.

She's here.

I sprinted to the front door and opened it.

Janie was standing on the other side.

God she's beautiful.

I flashed her a smile and she blushed.

I stepped to the side so she could enter, she walked in and I led her to the couch.

I sat down next to her.

"Wanna watch a movie?" I asked.

"Sure! Which one?"

"How bout... a horror movie." I smiled devilishly.

"Colbyyyyyy, you know I don't like scary moviessss." She whined.

I laughed and put on a scary movie.

The movie just ended, and we were sitting on the couch, just talking.

I was about to ask her.

"Janie, I have a question for you."

She nodded, signaling for me to continue.

"Well, wi--" I got cut off by her phone ringing.

"Well, wi--" Colby got cut off by my phone ringing.

I looked down at my phone and saw I had a call.

I sighed and answered.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hello, may I speak to Janie?"

"Speaking." I replied skeptically.

"I regret to inform you that your parents were in a fatal crash." The words hit me like bricks.

"My family?" I asked, choking out the words.

"Yes, your mother passed, and your father is in a coma, the chances of survival for him are about 50/50." They replied.

"I-I..." I couldn't speak.
