The waitress set down our food at the booth we were sitting at.

"Enjoy!" She said in a cheery attitude with a smile.

We both politely nodded at her as she walked away, her blonde ponytail swinging from left to right.

I looked up at my date, Colby. We were celebrating me hitting 500k subscribers. Thats actually a really big number of you think about it. 500,000 people.

That means 500,000 people share a common interest, which is me.

Wow.

My thoughts got interrupted by Colby asking me a question.

"How do you feel?"

"What do you mean?" I replied.

"For surpassing 500k?" He asked as he took another bite of his lunch.

"I feel..." I paused, trying to think of an accurate description of how I felt,"loved."

"Loved?" Colby asked, taking a sip of his water.

I nodded as I shoved a piece of the sandwich I ordered into my mouth. Damn this sandwich is good.

"Well-" Colby got interrupted by my phone ringing.

"Sorry," I said to him as I grabbed my phone out of my purse, not checking the caller I.D as I declined.

"Who was it?" He asked.

"I didn't check." I replied truthfully as I set my purse on the empty spot in the booth I was sitting at.

"Well, as I was saying-" he got cut off by my phone ringing again.

"Oh my god," I muttered under my breath as I retrieved my phone once again, but this time I checked the caller I.D. My mom was calling me. I declined the call and set my phone on the table, face down.

"My mom keeps calling me, but she can wait." I said, looking at Colby. A small grin appeared on his face.

"Okay, as I was saying, do-" he got cut off by my phone receiving a text.

"Oh my god." I said a little louder than last time.

I turned my phone over so I could see it, and I saw a text.

Mommy❤️: answer your god damn phone y/n.

I was shocked, she's never acting like this unless something's wrong, and today's been going to well for something to be wrong.

Apparently, my facial expression changed because Colby asked me in a concerned voice,"What's wrong?"

"My mom said to answer my phone," I said pushing that thought away,"but what were you gonna say?" I asked him.

"Well, I was gonna ask you if you felt that it was the appropriate time to go public?" He asked me, hopefully.

I mean, we've been dating for almost a year now. And it's not like I've not been wanting to tell my fans, it just never got mentioned or brought up.

"Sure." I smiled.

He let out a big breath that he was holding in and smiled at me.

"Good, because y/n, do you know how hard it is not to show any affection to you what so ever whenever a camera is on?" He asked me, taking a bite of his lunch.

"It must be pretty hard, considering it's me and all." I said sarcastically as I flipped my hair.

"You're lucky you're cute." He said as he took another bite of his lunch.

"I know." I giggled.

And then, my phone started ringing again. Already knowing who it was, I looked up at Colby, and he nodded, granting me access to answer my phone.

I didn't even bother going outside or anything because we were basically the only ones here, except for an elderly couple on the corner, and a few people scattered here and there.

I accepted the call and put it up to my ear.

"Hello?" I asked.

"y/n, where are you, why weren't you answering?" She said, her voice was full of anger and sadness.

That wasn't like her, she was normally happy and energetic.

"I'm having lunch with Colby." I said back to her, I glanced up at Colby and he had a slight smile on his face from what I just said.

"And that was so important that you couldn't answer your phone?" She almost yelled.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think it was important." I replied, looking back down at my lunch.

"Well it is y/n!" I could hear her crying now.

"Mom, what's wrong?" I asked her, I looked up at Colby and he had a concerned look on his face.

"He's gone." That's all she said, but I knew what she meant.

"Joey?" I asked, my voice was at a whisper-level.

Her cries got louder at the response of his name, so I assumed I was right.

Oh god.

I hung up the phone and looked back at Colby, I couldn't read his facial expression.

I couldn't see anything, everything was blurry from the tears in my eyes. My throats felt like it was closing up, and I had a killer headache.

"Y/n?" Colby asked concerned as he put his hand on my hand that was laying on the table.

"Joey." Was all I could choke out at the moment.

Joey was my 11-year-old little brother. He was diagnosed with leukemia about 6 months ago.

He was so sweet and kind. And now, he was gone.

And no matter how much I wanted him back, he can never come back.

I felt as if I no longer had control over my body. I ran out of the restaurant and straight into the passengers side of Colby's car, acquiring a few glances from the other customers on the way out.

A few minutes later, Colby ran out of the restaurant and to his car, not to the drivers side, but to the passengers side, where I was.

He opened the door and I leaped into his arms.

Words couldn't even describe the pain I felt.

When you grow close with someone, letting them go is one of the hardest things to do. Thinking about Joey's state the last time I saw him, made me cry even harder. He looked like he was in so much pain, which he was, but he put his pain to the side and focused on what was important.

I pulled away from Colby.

"He would've wanted me to be strong, like he was." I said.

Colby nodded as he brought his hand up to my cheek and wiped off the tears.

I have to stay strong.

For him.
