Misaki's POV
"REALLY! THANK YOU!" I looked at the lady with such astonishment, making her flinch.
"No. No. I've done nothing to make you thank me. I'm only telling you your position here at Marukawa! I'm pleased you got the position you wanted." She explains with an embarrassed face.
"Then who should I be thanking?" I asked, still excited.
"Isaka-san, our president!" She explained.
I was a bit shocked that he got me to become a manga editor. Maybe he's not so bad after all. He always drags Usagi-san to jobs he doesn't want to go to but it's his job to promote the authors and whatnot.
"He told me that you should ask other editors before your department is decided."
"Department?" I've worked part-time here but I still do not know how things function here.
"Yes. A department, in our company, is referring to what manga you will become an editor of. There are hundreds in our company. Our departments are based on gems, like Emerald, Sapphire, and such. Some departments can include Action, Shojou, Ecchi, School life, and, my personal favorite, Yaoi!"
My eye twitches slightly as she starts to have a pink atmosphere develop around her. She's probably daydreaming about Usagi-san's BL novels. But I did say in my interview that I respect everyone's tastes and will work in any department that is decided for me.
"Sorry about that. I got caught up in the moment. I was just thinking of Akikawa Yayoi. She writes such good novels dealing with BL." She clasps her hands as she had the eyes of a fangirl beaming towards the ceiling.
Called it. "That's okay with me but what do you mean when my department is decided? Did you guys not sign me up for one?" I asked out of concern.
"There's nothing on this paper that says specifics on your department. It is probably because they are deciding on which you would belong to. You applied in a season where there are currently no applicants. However, all departments are short on editors, so do not be surprised with the position you get since it is by chance. The only catch is that you do not get to pick which one you get to work in though. That's what our superiors decide on. There could be a strong possibility you may or may not be put in the manga you want to work with." She explained looking down at the papers.
Really?!? Now what am I going to do? Will I have to wait another month or something? This must have happened to someone else. Or is it just me? Too bad Aikawa is not here with me.
She had to leave me by himself because Usagi had not finished his manuscript. The editor-in-chief had called her to get the manuscript in so she apologized and ran out the doors.
Baka-Usagi! Keep up with your friken deadlines. "Sir?" I completely forgot that she was still in here with me.
"Hai?"
"I can assign you an editor to talk to. I know someone who wanted to get into the literature department but did not get his position. He was pretty upset at the time but now he is doing do much better. He has made a few legends. Not quite as much as the chief in that department but he has definitely improved. He was assigned here six months ago so he can be perfect for you to talk to!" She gives me such a cheerful smile and the comment made me feel a bit better.
"I like that idea! Thanks!" I said appreciatively. "So who is this person I can talk to?" I ask almost impatiently.
"His name is Ono-" She was interrupted by someone running inside the room. It was another girl in the same uniform as the one sitting in front of me.
