I finish up the base of Mark's shirt when I hear someone coming down the hallway. Probably one of the boys. "Um, who are you?" I turn, looking over the couch. It's Amy. Shit, did no tell her?
"Uh, hi. Sorry, yeah, I guess Ethan and Mark didn't tell you. My name is Alex, I'm designing t-shirts for them and Tyler." I explain, smiling awkwardly. She looks at me questioningly. "If you want confirmation, you can talk to one of them, I understand if you don't trust me," I say sheepishly, knowing she probably thinks I'm some insane superfan who hunted down her boyfriend. She nods and leaves. After a minute of me drawing in nervous silence, she comes back, smiling kindly at me.
"I talked to Ethan. You scared me a little, Mark usually tells me when people are coming over-- for a moment I thought you were some fan that broke in," She says. I laugh.
"Nope. I was just offered to design some t-shirts. Sorry for scaring you though." I reply apologetically, going back to drawing cartoon-Mark. I hear her go to the fridge, the bustling of cans as she takes something out. I hear the skrrt of an opening soda can and the fridge closes. She comes and stands behind me, peering curiously over my shoulder— her presence makes me nervous but I keep working anyway.
"What's this gonna be?" She asks lightly.
"I was thinking of making a cartoon-Mark jumping Mario-style, and underneath it would say 'habooskee'; there aren't any t-shirts of it yet and I know that his fans have been asking for it," I explain. She nods.
"It looks great so far; Can't wait to see it when it's done. Good luck." She says, smiling, and walks out. I let out a short breath of air. I met Amy. Now I can just relax, and not worry about anyone else.
