Chapter 10: Mary's POV
"He's just a boy!" I cried "My son! He is going to get killed!"
I could picture what I looked like. A woman in despair, huddled on the floor with her back heaving up and down, with loud sobs coming from her mouth. James placed a hand on my shoulder. As soon as we were put in the basement, Zoe unwrapped him. I would have if the stranger didn't take Charlie. I was just like a table who had just got all it's legs chopped off in one single swipe. Straight to the floor I fell. I feel hopeless and angry. My poor son. He doesn't stand a chance. My poor, poor son. I let out a muffled cry.
"Mary," James whispered "He will come back, I just know it."
I tried to reply, but I shed tears all over my face again. Then the door swung open. As quick as it opened, it slammed shut as the two figures sprinted inside. I came up to a kneel and spread my arms.
"Charlie?" I whimpered. He ran into my arms and my heart was filled with warmth and love. Settling my arms around his back, I decided I would not let go until The Purge finished. But that plan didn't go to well. Charlie slipped from my grip and ran back over to the stranger.
"Charlie," I tried to stay calm "Back away slowly and come back to mum."
"But this man is our friend!" He said.
"Charlie; please!" I cried. I knew he could sense my worry so he walked cautiously back over to us, turning his head over to the man every few seconds.
The stranger changed the subject. He obviously didn't care where Charlie went too. "There are at least 7 weird people out there with guns, knifes and axes. I knew that Charlie and I couldn't cope with all of them." He smiled "Or maybe we could, but just for safety reasons."
Charlie let out a brilliant, vibrant laugh that actually gave the room a sense of hope.
"You should have seen us go!" Charlie exclaimed "We killed two people out there!"
"Anyway back to the story." The stranger said. He chucked our original pistons at James and I and slid two large meat knives across the floor to Zoe and Charlie.
"Alright folks! Listen up!" The man yelled "All you gotta do is go out there and do your best."
