I Friend Zoned Finn Harries

Chapter 9 - Dinner pt. 1

A/N: This took so long bc I wanted to finish part one and two so yea here you go...

"HOLLY!" my father shouted and I let out a sigh "COMING!" I shouted back. I pulled at my knee length black dress that my mother picked out for me, even though I told her no. But as always she just did it anyway so I went along to avoid any further argument. "YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS" he said a bit more demanding and I grabbed my phone sticking it my bra and running down the stairs before he could get the first number out.

"Now let's go" he said tuning on his heels and my mother following close behind. I followed them shutting the front door behind us and locking the bottom lock. I turned to see them already half way down the street and I didn't try to catch up. There was quite a large gap by the time they were already at the Harries front door.

"Hurry" mother whisper shouted at me to make sure the Harries didn't hear though the door. I crossed my arms and let out a huff of frustration as I finally caught up to them. "Look I don't know what's wrong, but please contain yourself for just a few hours" my father asked and I nodded "Yea, I will". I looked up at him and he was smiling so I smiled and he placed a kiss on my forehead before knocking on the door.

In a few seconds the door was opened and there stood Mr. and Mrs. Harries. They both smiled and opened their arms for my parents then me. "How you been the past few days?" Mrs. harries asked me and I shrugged "Just trying to get back in the swing of things" was all I could say. "Holly!" Emmy called out and I turned around and wrapped my arms around her. "How’s school?" I asked her pulling away from the hug.

She started talking but it was blocked out by Finn coming down the stairs with Jack right behind him. They were both wearing blazers with button ups and slacks and Jack had glasses on and it looked very nice on them. I looked right at Finn and he looked away from me making my heart drop. The Jack gave me a small wave and I have one back. "Are you listing?" Emmy asked and I turned back to her "I'm so sorry" and she shrugged "its fine" she said before she walked away.

"Hey" I heard behind me and I turned around and there was Jack. I looked around the room quickly to see Finn talking to my mother. "He still mad" I asked still looking at Finn "Yea. He's been pissy all day" Jack said and I nodded. "I'm so stupid" I admitted "No. Your fine" Jack said and I turned and looked at him "Thanks". He held his arms out and I moved in and let him hug me for a second before we pulled apart. 

"There she is" I heard Finn say and I turned to see him looking at the stairs, he was looking a Beth. She had on an expensive looking red dress that looked lovely on her. I heard my mother gasp and I rolled my eyes "I think my mom found the daughter she’s always dreamed of" I joked and Jack laughed. Finn met her at the bottom of the stairs and took her hand and I let out a sigh.  

"Jealous?" Jack said and I rolled my eyes "And what on earth would I be jealous of?" I asked. "That you can't hold his hand" Jack said “I don't know what you are talking about “I said crossing my arms. “Holly we both know you like Finn" he whispered and I sighed "Look I don't know if I do or don't alright? All I know is right now my friend is mad at me and I need to fix it" I said walking away and over to Finn.

I stood behind him and tapped his shoulder making him turn around. He looked down at me and smiled that movie star smile. “HI" I simply said and he nodded "Hey" and then Beth came over taking his hand again. "Whenever you get some time I want to talk" I said and he nodded "Yea. Sure" he said before turning back around to talk to my mother.

"FOODS DONE!" Mrs. Harries shouted full of glee and we all started to fill into the dining room. I sat between my parents and Finn sat across from me. "Let’s say grace" Mr. Harries said and we all bowed our heads. I didn't really pay any attention to what was said and before I knew it my head was back up again and I was staring at Finn. We gave each other little smiles before we started grabbing food from the center of the table.

"So are you in school Beth" my mother asked just to spite me because I told her I didn't want to go to UNI. "Yes I am! I'm studying law" She said and I thought my mother shit herself when she heard that. "You know I always love you and Holly being friends, you were such a good influence" she said and smiled "She sure was!" I said a bit too sarcastic because my mother elbowed me. 

"Well Holly took a big step and moved away for a while" Finn spoke up "And that took guts to try and make it out there alone". I looked up at him "Thank you" I mouthed and he nodded going back to eating. "Well she moved back in so it's not that big of a step" my mother said and I dropped my fork on my plate.

"At least I took a step" I shot back and my father grabbed my hand and I shoved it away "No. She is always talking down about me and I’m tired." I said crossing my arms over my chest. "I'm so sorry" my mother said looking around at everyone but me "For what?" I asked. She narrowed her eyes at me and mumbled "stop" under her breath.

"Stop what? Stopping putting up the fake façade that we are a happy family and that I’m not a fuck up?" "Watch your language!" she exclaimed and I stood up. "I think I’ve fucked up enough stuff for today" I said pushing my chair in and walking towards the door. "Enjoy your night" I said giving a small curtsy before walking out the door and back down to my house.
