Chapter 14 - Stay

"How about this one" I asked trying on a big floppy blue hat and both boys laughed. "Your head is so big it doesn’t even fit" Jack said and I took it off my hat and stuck my tongue out at him "Your just jealous because I look better in it". He rolled his eyes and Finn laughed taking the hat from me and putting back on the high shelf that I couldn't reach. "Thank you" I said already looking at other things that I couldn't afford in the store. I looked up for a second to find jack with a pair of shorts draped over his arm.

“You know it’s still cold outside, right?” I asked pointing to the shorts and he nodded “Um yea just getting a head start” he said stumbling over his words. I just nodded and continued to shuffle though the bright colored clothes. “This is nice” Finn said grabbing a peachy pink shirt off the rack and holding it up. I reached for the price tag and looked before taking it out of his hands and putting it back “Too expensive”. He laughed grabbing it again “I’ll pay for it” he offered and shook my head “I couldn’t ask you to do that” I said walking away from the rack all together.

“Come one just consider it…a gift” Finn said following behind me and I rolled my eyes “no Finn”. I heard him let out a sigh and I smiled walking over to the register and standing in the queue so they could finally check-out. Finn was right behind me and Jack was walking over and I noticed the theme of short sleeves and shorts between the two of them.

“Am I missing something” I said looking between the two and both nodded suspiciously only raising even more questions in my head. “Is there something you want to tell me?” I said looking up at Finn only and he didn’t look me in the eyes “Nope” he assured and I knew something was wrong.

“Whatever” I said crossing my arms and we all stood there in complete silence. We finally got up to the lady at the register and she smiled taking their clothes and scanning them and putting them in the bags. “Is there anything else I can help you with” she said looking only at Finn and I could feel my eyes roll in the back of my head.

“No thanks” he said politely handing over his card to the lady and she looked at me and stopped smiling altogether. It was pretty obvious that Finn wasn’t into her but I could still feel the jealousy just wash over me.

“I’m going to go look before we go” I said over my shoulder before walking away without a response. I walked over to random rack of clothes just get as far away from them as I could. I pretended to shuffle though some clothes till Jack and Finn walked over.

“This couldn’t wait 5 seconds?” Finn asked and I looked up at him “She looked at me funny” I said turning back to the clothes. "Jealousy" Jack said and I tiled my head to the side "Of what?" I asked and he looked between Finn and I. I felt my cheeks heat up and Finn cleared his throat”Whatever we got what we need, let’s go”.

If I'm going to be honest hearing him just brush it off hurt, a lot. “What do you need those for anyway?” I asked feeling my attitude coming though. They both looked at each other than down at me “We’ll tell you when we get back to your house" Jack said heading for the door.

I looked at Finn and he just looked away then followed right behind Jack. I crossed my arms over my chest and walked out of the shop catching up with Finn. I grabbed his arm and turned him around "What's going on?" I asked and he shook his head "It's nothing too big just wait" he assured and I nodded.

He draped his arm across my shoulders and smiled "Let's just go back to the car" he said. I knocked his arm off my shoulder and just walked to car by myself still feeling a little hurt. I got in the passenger seat and shut the door not saying a word as Jack started the car. Finn got in the back and I quickly glanced in the rear view mirror and his face was red and I rolled my eyes as Jack took off.

The whole car ride over we were all quiet as a mouse. "Everything okay" Jack asked and I nodded "Just fine". Then as soon as we got to my house I got out of the car and walked up to the door. I unlocked it and went right inside and up to my room, leaving the front door open for them to come in. I sat on my bed and I heard the front door shut and footsteps coming up to my room.

They both walked in and I looked up at them "Now tell me" I demanded. "We are going on a trip to America" Jack announced and I instantly relaxed "Is that all?" I said almost laughing. "For six weeks" Jack said taking a step back and I have to admit it hit hard but I was fine. "And we leave tomorrow night" Finn added I my head snapped up I looked up at him "And you tell me now?" I asked standing up.

"When were you two idiots going to tell me?" I asked clearly angry and they both shrugged "We were waiting for the right time". I shook my head "The day before was the right time" I said walking over to my window so my back was facing them. "Don't cry" Finn sighed "I'M NOT!' I shouted looking back at them and with a crack in my voice at the end. 

We all got quite for a second and I sniffed hard trying to make sure I didn't actually cry, not now at least. "I'm just" I started rolling my eyes and letting out a long sigh before I mumbled looking at both Jack and Finn. "I'm sorry what was that?" Jack said cupping his ear and leaning in and crossed my arms over my chest.

"I'll miss you both alright" I admitted making them both smile.

"We'll miss you too" Jack said stepping forward and wrapping his arms around me. I hugged back squeezing as tight as I could causing him to cough and let go of me. "Figure out your hair before you go" I said dragging my fingers through his messy slightly curly hair. He shoved me back before fixing his hair and moving away from me.

Then Finn walked up to me we both just stood there for a second. "I'll be down stairs" Jack said hurrying out the room leaving us both in the room alone. I looked down at our shoes before I looked up again at him and we both smiled. "So tomorrow?" I asked and he nodded "tomorrow night" he added and I shoved my hands in my pockets so they would stop shaking.

"Its suck you both have to go" I said and he nodded "Jacks all for it me on the other hand, I'd like to stay" he said hugging slightly. I just nodded trying to look anywhere but his eyes, for the love of god not his eyes. But my damn wandering eyes connected with his and my heart started to beat faster.

"Do I have a reason to stay?" he asked taking a step closer to me.

All the blood in my body was rushing to my head and my knees were getting weak. "Do you?" I asked feeling my heart beat in my ears and my mouth go dry. "I'd like to think I do" Finn whispered reaching over and pulling one of my hands out of my pockets and cupping it with his. "I don't want to s-stop you" I admitted and he nodded "You wouldn't be" he tried to tell me.

"Finn I-" I cut myself off and took a few deep breaths "Finn I think you should go it's just six weeks". I pulled my hand away from his and put it back in my pocket "Beth will be waiting for you to get back anyway" he nodded before clearing his throat "You're right". He gave me a small nod before heading to the door but I grabbed his arm turning him around.

I pushed myself up on my toes and kissed him.

I let go his arm and grabbed a hand full of his shirt with one hand so I could pull him close. He didn't try to pull away and I wasn't going to either, we needed this. Even though we kissed before it felt like the first time we did. The nerves, the smell of cologne, his soft lips, it was nothing new but felt foreign. I liked it.

I finally pulled back for air and looked up at him and we both had straight faces. "I still think you should go" I said and he looked confused "But we just-" "We kissed I know, but there is still more we both have to figure out". He slowly nodded letting out a long sigh and "Fine" quickly left his lips.

I lunged forward and wrapped my arms around him resting my head on his chest "I really do care about you Finn". He rested his head on top of mine and wrapped his arms around me "I care about you too Holly" he assured rubbing his hands up and down my back.
