Time to Think

-Chris's POV-
"You ready darling?" I knocked on her bedroom door
She sorted her rucksack and nodded.
"Good girl" I kissed the top of her head.
"Dad?"
"Yeah?"
"Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise," I smiled
"Give me a clue"
"Hmm, it's away from all this, the city"
She nodded.
"Have fun you two" smiled Emily.
"I'll see you soon baby" I smiled kissing her once more before we left,
We headed to the train station.
Getting on the tube,
Everyone stared at us both as we sat down,
I sat uncomfortably as people burned holes into my skin from them staring,
Crystal gripped onto my arm,
The train stopped and we got onto the platform when someone grabbed crystals arm.
"Hey little girl, is your daddy treating you alright, do you want me to call social services"
"No my daddy is just fine Thankyou," she flashed him a sarcastic smile.
"You think because I have tattoos makes me a god damn child abuser?" I said pushing him away from my little girl,
"No but if you were my dad I would sure as hell be terrified that you'd beat me" he said pushing me back,
"Watch your mouth" I spat grabbing his collar.
"Dad-
"Try me, scum" he grinned.
"Chris!" Cried crystal,
"We ain't in a private area, your lucky there are cops around cause if you lay your hand on me or my daughter again it won't end well for you"
I loosened my grip,
"Come on baby lets get out of here" I took her hand.

We left at that,
"Y-you scared me" she said wiping her tears,
"Baby I'm sorry," I said kneeling to her,
"Don't fight people they are not worth it"
"I know just Chris gets angry easily and I seen that man grab your sore arm is it okay,"
"I think it's bleeding a little but it's okay"
"Alright well don't worry we're almost there just a little further now"
We both walked down the road and to the outside of the town,
Walking through a dirt road till we reached the lake,
It was a large spread of water that was surrounded by luxury wooden cabins.
"Woah"
"You like?"
"Yeah it's pretty,"
"My original thought was to take you to the city and take you shopping but I knew you hated crowds so I thought why not here, just me and you"
She smiled and took my hand,
I headed down to the wooden hut to retrieve the key to the pre-booked lodge,
It had a balcony and was perked up on a hill looking over the water,
There were boats,nature walks, fishing rods, a park and even archery.
We got inside to a warm cabin,
"I know this is probably not what your hoping for and I'm sorry I know this place isn't for everyone, and kids find these places boring but-
"Dad-
"But i just really want to spend time with you and just- just talk about things yeah and I know I'm not the best father-
"Chris!"
"It's perfect, I love you" she said hugging my arm
My breath hitched as I held her close
"I love you too,"

We both lay in bed,
I looked over at crystal who was fast asleep on the single bed.
The moonlight shining across her soft skin.
He tossed and turned, mumbling and whispering in her sleep.
I rested my eyes and began to fall asleep however I not long after jilted awake to the sound of crying.
I shot up noticing crystal having a night terror.
"Darling wake up" I said shaking her slightly.
"Crissy!"
She shot up awake gasping for breath.
"Come here" I said carding her in my arms, sitting on the bed.
"Jesus crissy your shaking like hell"
"I-I'm s-sorry I can't help it"
"What was it about huh?"
"Mom and dad"
"Us?"
"No my biological ones"
"What happened?"
"Nothing I can't say"
"Why not darling why not"
"Mommy said I should be ashamed" she squeaked.
"You shouldn't be ashamed of your past crystal you can tell me"
"I Dunno if I can Chris, it hurts to think about it"
"Well we have a couple days away yeah, to have a break from that stuff but I can't help you if you don't tell me baby, does Emily know?"
"Not a soul, just me and them, they fled the country that's why I was in that orphanage. They abandoned me"
"And no we have you, and your the best thing that ever happened to us, you understand?"
"I'm not the best you said the band was"
"You mean more to me than motionless in white, you are my world crystal, my world," I held her tight.
"I'm sorry I put you through so much pain" she cried.
I kissed her arms,
"It's alright darling don't ever feel bad for that" I said kissing her cheek,
She sniffled "okay"
"Now get some rest for me yeah?"
She nodded.
She lay next to me and I passed her some covers,
She curled up and fell into a deep sleep.
And so did I.
Ready for what awaits tomorrow.

I still have vague plans for this short storyline.
Which is what I am currently working on during my free time which is scarce at the moment shity school revision.
