Don't Yell

-Chris's POV-

The weekend had ended on a rough note.
After I told her about us getting married she's been acting odd.
We drove home in silence which wasn't any different to the last few days.
I stopped at mc Donald's.
"Honey you should eat something what do you want?" I said sorting my wallet.
"I'm not hungry" she whispered.
I sighed.
"Hey can I get a coffee with extra sugar and chicken nugget happy meal please"
I grabbed the food through the window of the drove through and placed a happy meal on her lap.
"Atleast try" I sighed drinking some coffee.
I sat in the car park answering a call from Emily,
"Hey baby!"
"Hey Chris you guys okay?" Emily asked happily.
"Yup just on our way home now!" I replied.
"Did you tell her?," I heard her grin over the line.
"I did, okay we will discuss it later okay, we better get going before we hit rush hour"
"Okay can I talk to Christa?"
"Sure, honey, you wanna talk to your mom?"
She took the phone off of me.
"Hey Emily"
I frowned at her use of words.
"yeah it was fun"

"I can't wait to see you too"

"Love you too, bye" she hung up.
She carried on eating her French fries.
"Right let's head back before it gets too dark.

Crystal stayed silent throughout the journey which made it almost unbearable to drive.
I made up different conversation starters in my head to at least make sure she was okay.
We reached our home town and drove through the streets when I had the courage to say something,
"You looking forward to getting home huh?"
"Yes it's good to get home"
"Dos you enjoy your little holiday though?"
"It was really fun. Thankyou Chris"
"You've been pretty quiet the past few days, I was worried I said something"
There was a silence.
"Did I say something?"
"No, no it's nothing you done"
"Are you sure cause you've been acting strange"
"You don't need to worry Chris, I'm fine"
I sighed in frustration.
"Look just- just as long as you know I love you alright?"
"I love you to Chris-
"okay enough of the Chris shit alright?! It's dad!" I snapped.
"D-don't yell-
"Yeah well it pisses me off alight?! It's hard to be a parent when the child doesn't accept them as a parent" I yelled.
"I can't help it"
"It's to do with the marriage thing isn't it, what? You don't want us to marry! You too scared that you won't get the attention from the family or something"
"Of course not Chri-
"Then what are you so afraid of!" I screamed.
"You!" She yelled back opening the car door when we stopped at a red light,
"Where do you think your going!"
"I'm walking home," she shook her head,
"The house is miles away-
"I can walk!"
I grunted in anger.
"Oh and for your information! The wedding is next week! And we sure as hell ain't stopping it for you!!" I yelled as she walked along the pavement,
"Fuck" I cussed.
I drove home.

I got home eventually. Emily waiting on the porch.
She ran to me and kissed my cheek.
"Babe I missed you so much!" She smiled.
"I missed you too Emily"
"Where's crystal"
"She decided to walk, she didn't take the wedding news well and I ended up lashing out"
She sighed.
"Why isn't she taking it well?"
"I don't know I need to find out okay, she needs to learn to trust us"
"We are her parents now, we will help her" she held my hand.
"I love you," I let a tear slip kissing her passionately,
"I love you too"
