Missing You

Chapter 1

Why. That was the only thing I could thing. Why.
She looked at the trashcan. She looked at the letter he had written her.

                                  Dear Cathy,
                                          I called Elise to help me pack my bags
                                    I went downtown and closed the bank account
                                                It's not about another shrink
                                            It's not about another compromise
                                        I'm not the only one who's hurting here
                                             I don't know what the hell is left to do
                                   You never saw how far the crack had opened
                                     You never knew I had run out of rope and
                                                          I could never rescue you
                                                          All you ever wanted
                                                    But I could never rescue you
                                                      No matter how I tried
                                            All I could do was love you hard
                                                           And let you go

I hugged the letter to my chest and cried. Jaime was a writer. A poet. Jaime was also a very successful writer. He made it 63 weeks on the bestsellers list. It hurts me to think about it but sometimes I wonder if that's the reason why Jaime left me. Maybe, Jaime was just so shallow and that since he was so successful, he couldn't live with a struggling actress like me. I tear the letter into a hundred pieces and throw it away. I wonder, though, what would I do if Jaime just suddenly came back. What if Jaime surprised me one day at the front door saying "I want you back" ? What would I do. Would I let him come in or just slam the door in his face?
