Yesterday Brendon made me go with him to get breakfast, he used the "I'm your boss" card which was fucking stupid. That was the only reason I was there yesterday, not to be his friend again or anything like that. He was basically forcing me to hang out with him.
Today that will not happen, before and after the show I'm going to avoid him like the flu. It's not that I don't want to be his friend, it's just that he really pissed me off when he called me stupid and he didn't make it any better when he made me hang out with him.
My phone rings and I notice it's Ian, I pick up the phone almost immediately from off the nightstand.
"Hey Ian" I smile.
"Hey gorgeous, how's the tour going?" he asks, it sounds like he's eating something so I just ignore it.
"Pretty normal I'd say" I explain with a shrug.
"That's good, I miss you. Are you guys coming to Washington anytime soon?"
"I'm not entirely sure, maybe." I answer.
"Well maybe if you do, you can come see me." he offers. A bigger smile spreads across my face and I feel giddy.
"Yeah, of course. I'd love that" I tell him.
The rest of the conversation is him going on about his new job at a radio station and how he is so excited about it all and then he says he has to go in which I tell him I love him and hang up. Delilah comes in from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body and her hair tied up.
"So you couldn't just lie yesterday?" I ask her and she turns to me looking confused.
"What?" her eyebrow raises.
"I didn't want to hang out with Brendon yesterday. I don't like him" I tell her.
"Yeah right" she laughs. "You like him and I can tell but you can go ahead and lie to yourself" The sad part is that I can't tell if she's right or not. Sometimes I don't want to be around Brendon but other times that's all I want to do. Yesterday all we did was hang out and it was fun actually. But that doesn't mean I'm just going to be his friend again, he fucked up and he needs to realize that.
"How could you say that?" I ask acting as if me liking Brendon is the craziest thing I have ever heard.
"Because it's true Rion and you know it. All you are ever doing is asking me about him, and come on, just because he's your boss doesn't mean you have to hang out with him, you know that. You could have easily declined his offer and pushed him out the door. What could he have done? He likes you so he wouldn't have fired you. Face it, you wanted to hang out with him because you like him" she smirks at her amazing observation.
"Okay sure, I like him. And?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Don't make him work so hard. He's a great guy" she shrugs and I roll my eyes. Thanks for the advice. I stand up from my bed and go out into the hall with my phone, computer bag, camera and key. Zack asked me to come to the arena to take pre-concert pictures.Once I hail down a cab, I get in and I tell him where to go. I send Zack a quick text that I'm on my way. When I get there I pass the guy a five and go inside. I find Zack talking Jake and ask him what he wants specifically. He tells me just to go around and take aesthetically pleasing photos of shit.
"Right" I sigh and go to the back where Jack is establishing the dressing rooms. I snap a quick photo of the first room labeled "Game Room"
After that I go to the stage where the drums are already set up and snap a few angled shots of that, then the guitar case for Kenny's guitars.
"Hey" a voice behind me makes me jump. I don't even have to turn around to know who that is.
"Brendon" I say without turning away from what I'm doing.
"What're you doing" he asks as he comes into view.
"Taking pictures, you know...my job" I say sarcastically. I snap a photo of Jack as he's talking to one of the crew members setting up the merchandise tables.
"Can you get one of me?" he asks smiling.
"I'd say no but that would mean I wouldn't be doing my job so sure" I let out a sigh and take a picture of him smiling away.
"Thank you" he pats my back and walks away. That was surprisingly not annoying on his part-whatever.
After a few more I tell Zack I think I got all my shots. He tells me to email them to him so he can post a few on Instagram, I agree and go to the back where I set my computer bag when I came in. I grab it and sit down on a chair, opening my computer and putting the memory card in.
"Now what are you doing?" Brendon asks, making me jump.
"Do you have to do that every time!?" I question.
"Sure" He stands up straighter walking towards me. "So what're you doing?" he asks again.
"If you must know...I'm emailing the pictures I took to Zack." I tell him. I actually don't mind him being around me all the time, he's the only person I really know.
"Oh, that's cool. Are you excited for tonight's show?" he pulls a chair up to next to me.
"Always" I sigh not looking at him. This sucks for me because I planned on staying away from him and here he is up my ass all the time, not that its entirely a bad thing. He isn't a bad sight to look at. Once I finish getting the pictures in the email I label them: Photos 1-19 Wells Fargo Arena, Philadelphia October 7th 2017
"You're very thorough" he looks at my work. I send the email and then shut my computer and slide it back in the bag.
"Thanks" I stand and leave but before he can he grabs my hand. "What?" I ask taking my hand back.
"Zack wanted me to tell you to make sure you get you're things from your hotel room before 3, so we can leave right after the concert" he explains and I let out a laugh.
"That doesn't seem like something you would be told to do" I look him up and down.
"Just because I am who I am doesn't mean I can't do little things to help" he shrugs.
"Thanks for the warning" I smirk once before actually leaving. I sling my bag over my shoulder and walk outside to go back to my hotel, there are now hundreds of fans waiting outside as usual.
"Hey, how'd you get in there?" a girl asks from the ground a few feet away.
"I work for them" I shrug.
"As?" she surveys me like it matters.
"Tour photographer" I shrug again. I hail down a cab and when it appears I look back at her.
"Work hard and maybe one day you'll have my job. Lord knows I don't want it" I scoff and get in. That was kind of harsh and I barely meant it but it's too late to take it back now.
