The morning has come. My first thought is of Lex. I pray he did not drink too much last night. Chris and John, some of his cousins, and other friends took Lex out for one more single man's night out.
He promised me that they were just going to have a few drinks and catch up. I trust him. I just hope they didn't get carried away.
In Mawmaws California king bed, me and mawmaw and Jess spent the evening. We ended up all falling asleep late last night. Just like when we were little we all fell asleep chatting away with each other. Since Jess can't drink and I was so tired, we turned in early. Mawmaw watched old black and white movies as Jess and I gushed on and on about what tomorrow would bring.
And now... The day has come.
I'm the first up.
The wedding will start at 12pm. I have to hurry order breakfast and hop in the shower. Before I step into the steaming water, my phone buzzes.
From Lex.

'I can't wait to marry you.'

I text back. 'I'll the one in white, walking down to you. See you soon. Xoxo.'

After my shower, shaving my legs twice, and wrapping my hair up on top of my head in a towel, I step out and find, Mawmaw and Jess eating breakfast. My nerves keep me from eating too much. Just a few bites. And then everything becomes crazy.
The lady to do my makeup and hair arrives. The photographer steps in to snap some photos of us all getting our war paint and hair done. Jess steps out to gather up our dresses. I finish packing the last of my things in between makeup and hair.
I suppose that Lex and I will be leaving for Georgia after the wedding. At least, that's what I guess, since Lex told me to have all my stuff packed. We haven't discussed a honeymoon so I don't plan on going anywhere other than to our new home.
Jess returns.
My hair is the most time consuming and then the last of my makeup is painted on. I will finish getting dressed at the estate. And as I get into the car to ride to that estate, I wonder, how she has such a home. I mean, she is a therapist not a billionaire. Right?
I refuse to let her ruin my day. I put her far from my mind. Milo is waiting for me as we pull up and he opens my door and shows us inside.
We are lead upstairs and showed to a room. Jess and mawmaw busy themselves with hanging up the dresses, while I speak to Milo.

"Have you seen him this morning?"

He nods. "Yes, ma'am."

I smile. "Is he here yet?"

"He arrived just before you."

Before Milo leaves, I have to ask. "He isn't hung over is he?"

He grins. "He took some aspirin this morning but I think he will be just fine."

"Thank you, Milo," I smile.

He gives me a gentle smile and then leaves us to it. I race into the bathroom to slip into my white wedding lingire. The photographer shows up just as Jess zips my up in my wedding dress. She snaps a few pictures and then leaves again.
In the middle of the last minute touches, a knock comes to the door. Jess opens it.
And in walks John and Tiffany.
John I'm happy to see.
Her I could do without seeing but I smile nonetheless.

"My, she is a vision, isn't she?" Tiffany says.

John D'Amore, the tough man that he is, starts to have glistening eyes.

"That she is."

I can't help myself. I walk up to him and hug him close. When I part from him, he pulls a long box from his jacket.

"This was Miranda's. I brought it for her the day Lex was born. I thought.... Maybe you'd like to wear it today."

I open the box to find a shimmering diamond bracelet shining up at me.
