We pull up at the shop. Lex gets out, then walks around, to open my door. I take his hand, and we wait for the rest of our family to pull up. Lex takes the key out his pocket and opens the door. But Mawmaw stop us from entering.
"Wait! We need a picture!" She digs in her to find her phone.
Milo offered to take it, but Lex stops him.
"No, Milo, you need to be in this picture too. Here, ask these guys coming by," Lex says.
My heart is touched and from the look of it so is Milo's. The young man walking by takes the phone, and Milo stands beside John. Oscar grumbles about having to wear his nice clothes, but Mawmaw scolds him, and he stops his complaining long enough to smile with the rest of us. Jess stands to my left and my husband to my right. We're all here, together, our family. The guys snaps a few pictures and then hands over Mawmaws phone and gives us a wave, and a promise to stop the shop sometime. We head inside, and to Lex's surprise Jess and I decorate the inside with red and black balloons, on either side of a sign that I brought just for him, an open sign that lights up. Lex wraps his arm around my waist to pull me close. He kisses the top of my head.
" You know," he says to me. "If I didn't know what a pain in the ass you can be sometimes, I'd swear you were an angel."
I grin up at him, slightly blushing. "Right back at cha," I tease him with a wink.
"Thank you," his voice is low, for moment I can see in his eyes how happy he is. He turns to Jess, giving her a hug and tells her thank you also.
