For the first time, the figure steps out of the fog.
"It's you." Nate says, with the tone of his voice changing dramatically to a bitter sound.
Nate yells barbarically and his true intentions become apparent when he lurches forward with the knife still in hand that he had from killing the receptionist at the doctor's office.
He screams as he moves forward and aims the knife at his stomach.
"Ahhh!!!" The figure screams.
The figure falls down and Nate looks down as the person lays on the ground, wincing in pain.
"Finally, this is it. This is the end." Nate smiles. "You can't hurt anyone anymore."
The figure looks up, the fog going away, and it can clearly be seen who it is.
Derrick.
TWO MONTHS EARLIER
"3"
A tear streams down Nate's face.
"2"
He puts his gun directly up to Nate's head.
"1"
Nate closes his eyes and prepares for his death. The shots go off.
Nate felt nothing.
'Is this what a gunshot feels like?' Nate wondered.
He squirms and finally opens his eyes as he hears a thump.
He looks around and sees Derrick on the ground and someone else in the room, who shot him.
'I'm not shot!' Nate thinks to himself, looking down as there is no blood on him.
Curious enough, Nate returns his gaze to the room to see who shot him.
An injured Becca stands in the doorway, with a gun trembling in her hands. She has ropes loosely hanging from her arms and legs.
"You saved my life." Nate says under his breath. "Thank you."
Becca comes limping over to Nate, not long before she falls to the ground from exhaustion.
"The police will be here soon." Becca says. "I managed to find where Derrick hid my phone and I called them. This was of course after I got out of where he was holding me, yes I was kidnapped too. It only makes sense because we both infiltrated the hospital, am I right? I overheard everything. In the meantime, I understood what he planned on doing and found another gun he hid in this place."
"Thank you so much, Becca." Nate thanks her.
Becca tries to get up, pushing herself up and losing her strength.
"What happened?" Nate asks. "Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not." Becca says. "He beat me up before he got to you. I don't know why. I think he was planning on doing something different with me."
A tear rolls down Becca's cheek.
"I'm just glad he was not able to get to that point." Becca groans, finally having crawled over to Nate and untying the tight ropes around his arms and legs.
Suddenly, the red and blue lights can be seen outside the window and the sirens can be heard.
"They're here." Becca says. "Alright, we never infiltrated the hospital and this man can be considered a madman with intent to kill? Possibly a serial killer?"
"Sure. Okay." Nate agrees.
The police barge in the room and immediately see the dead body on the floor.
