Nate quietly shuts the door and sinks to the floor. He covers his face with his hands as tears stream down his face.

"This can't be happening." Nate cries. "I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't."

Nate tries to think of ways around this. Ways he can diverge the situation. He recognizes that regardless, what he is doing is wrong. He just rationalizes with himself that he can do what's wrong either in the worst way possible or as in a not so bad way.

He rolls his eyes as he feels hopeless in this situation.

Suddenly, Nate is surprised to see the basement door open and someone he knows standing in the doorway. Nate backs up. The person looks shocked to see Nate there.

"Becca?"

ONE WEEK EARLIER

"Becca?"

"Nate, I need your help." Becca says, in tears.

Nate tries to grab the door to slam it in her face but he's too drunk to simply do just that and Becca easily catches the door before it slams. Nate starts to stumble over to the couch.

"Nate, please. I know everything is not exactly perfect between us but I need your help." Becca begs.

"Exactly perfect?" Nate repeats sarcastically.

"Nate, I know." Becca says quickly. "This is a time of need. I mean I helped you in a time of need when we were kidnapped, babe."

Becca stops what she is saying as she notices what she just said and Nate turns around in amazement.

"What the hell did you just say?" Nate snaps, with a tear escaping his eye.

"I'm sorry, I just can't think straight." Becca reasons. "I didn't mean to call you babe. I guess it's just an old habit that stuck for a second. It's besides the point. Listen, Nate, this is urgent."

Becca comes in and shuts the door behind her.

"Urgent?" Nate says, plopping down on the couch as he laughs sarcastically, shaking his head, not looking at her. "What is your problem? You know, this sounds a lot like the time I had to ask you for help when I told you my mother came back 8 minutes after she died but I believe you called me crazy, insane, losing my mind...something of the sort. You wouldn't believe me."

Nate's words slur but he ends his statement looking back at her in the eye, unwavering, as he truly meant what he said.

"No, Nate, I know, and that's the thing now--I do believe you!" She cries.

Nate's attention had finally been grabbed.

"What?" Nate gasps.

"I'm so sorry for not understanding you sooner and for calling you all of those things." Becca explains, finally calming down. "I shouldn't have ever said those things. You were right. All along."

"What makes you say this now?" Nate snaps.

"I know. I should have believed you, I know. That's what I'm saying - I was wrong." Becca continues. "The reason I suddenly believe you is because someone just came to 8 minutes after they died... You remember Gabe? Well unbeknownst to me, he was secretly cheating on his girlfriend before he died. He was cheating with this girl named Stephanie. Stephanie is my cousin.... close cousin."

Nate's eyes widen as he says, "You're next."
