"Why you? Why did you have to be the communicator and not someone else?" Nate questions Derrick.

"Because the reason he entered the middle zone is all my fault." Derrick replies.

"What?" Nate gasps.

"Remember when I was trying to find a way to resurrect the dead?" Derrick asks.

"Yes." Nate says.

"He was the only patient I had that it actually briefly worked on." Derrick says, coughing up blood. "It was an accident, but it caused him to, enter, the middle, zone.."

Derrick is dying and doesn't have the energy to continue.

"Oh my god. This is all your fault!" Nate screams. "Who?! Who was it?!"

Derrick's eyes stare straight ahead as his pulse stops and the life leaves his body.

TWO WEEKS EARLIER

Nate stares at the bubble in front of him in his bubble bath as he contemplates asking Becca out again. He can't stop thinking about her.

He tries to think of what the outcome could possibly be.

Becca could be happy about it. She could say, "Of course I want to. I've missed you."

Who knows. She could be halfway there about the idea and end up being like, "I will because I miss you but only if you agree to drop this craziness about seeing your mother after she died or something about someone seeing Gabe after he died."

Worst possible thing he could think of would be her turning down this time like, "No! Never again. You're absolutely crazy!"

Thinking of the possible negative outcome gives him anxiety. He tries to clear his mind. After finishing his bubble bath, he steps out soaking wet. The water drip, drip, drips onto the floor as he reaches for the towel.

He turns some music on to help clear his mind. He starts to dry off. The towel smoothly covers the surface of his soft wet skin from the bath. He smells fresh and clean. He feels good, aside from all the drama going on and unanswered questions. He almost starts to think about it again, but he lets the music enter his mind and take over his thoughts.

He sits down on the covered toilet seat and continues to dry off, going down his leg. Suddenly, Becca walks in looking at him naked.

"I've missed seeing this." She smiles. "I've missed you."

She walks up to him and kisses him, caressing his soft face. She takes off her shirt and giggles as his jaw drops.

She moves in closer, as she lets him passionately kiss down her neck.

"I've missed this too." He says between his heavy breaths.

He keeps going down as Becca's breaths get heavy and they get swept up in the moment.

Suddenly, Nate snaps out of it and realizes he dozed off for a second from the relaxing music and dreamt of Becca again.

He starts to move faster, getting ready, now focused on something. He gets ready, dressing in a red polo shirt with dark brown khaki pants and black dress shoes. He tucks in his shirt, fixes his hair with some hair gel, and heads out the door.

Minutes later, he knocks on a door and rings the doorbell. Seconds later, someone opens the door.

"Becca." He says her name as he smiles. "Hi."
