--) Robyn's's POV (--
I walked up to my friend's house and rang the door bell. I shifted my wings uncomfortably under my hoodie, trying to make sure they weren't visible. My friend Bethany opened the door. "Robyn!" She said happily, hugging me. "I knew you could make it!" I smiled. I hadn't seen these people in what seemed like forever. I was slightly uncomfortable, one reason because I was paranoid they would notice my wings underneath my sweater.
I smiled and stepped inside. "Happy I could come." Bethany's house was decorated with streamers and balloons because it was her birthday. "Oh, I almost forgot!" I said, pulling a small box from my pocket. "Happy birthday, Beth." I said as I gave it to her. She smiled and took the gift, placing it on a table with a couple others. She grabbed my hand and said "Come on! We're having a pool party!" Oh no I thought.
As we emerged into her backyard and three other girls, Chloe, Stephanie and Zoe, were sitting around and laughing in their bathing suits. "Robyn!" Zoe yelled, waving us over. I walked over, slightly afraid about going in the pool. If they make me go in, they're sure to see my wings! I thought, panicking.
"Why're you wearing that big, bulky sweater in the middle of summer?" asked Stephanie. I shrugged, not knowing how to reply. Chloe came up behind me said "Come on, Robyn. Did you even bring your bathing suit?" I shook my head and tried to think of an excuse. "I, uh, didn't have one that fit." I said, trying my best to look disappointed. "You can use one of mine!" squealed Bethany. "I-I'd rather not... I'm not a very good swimmer" I said, starting to panic. Oh this was a bad idea... I thought miserably.
"Well, then I guess you're going in like that!" Stephanie yelled, laughing and picking me up. "No!" I yelled, trying to get away. But Stephanie had a tight hold on me, and I couldn't get out. Oh no oh no oh no! I thought, desperately trying to escape. Chloe, Bethany and Zoe were whooping and hollering at the side of Bethany's in-ground pool. Then, all of a sudden, I was sinking to the bottom of the pool. Great.
I reached the bottom, not wanting to surface. I liked to think I could hold my breath for a pretty long time, but I was no fish. I looked up and saw a swirly image of my friends, peering over the corner, watching me. I didn't know what to do. If I got out, my clothes would be soaking wet and they'd see my wings, and if I didn't, I would drown.
Almost as sudden as the cold water moments ago, the faint sound of a helicopter buzzed overhead. Squinting, I realized it was a SHIELD agency helicopter, no doubt coming to get me. What timing. I thought, smiling slightly. Well, I guess it's now or never. I gently pulled off my sweater, my lungs starting to burn. I then unfurled my wings through the slits in my t-shirt. I looked up one last time to see my friends, afraid and confused. I pushed myself off the bottom of the pool, flying into the air and splashing water everywhere.
"Ah! Robyn, how good it is to see you" yelled Phil Coulson over the noise of the helicopter, standing in the open door of the helicopter with a few other agents. "It seems we came at a good time" he said, examining the situation. "You sure did!" I exclaimed, looking down at my scared friends. "Robyn! Who are those people?! Why do you have wings?! What's going on?!" those seemed to be the only thing I heard from my friends as they yelled below.
I shook the water off my wings, which had a roughly 14 foot wingspan and were a pale cream colour with all different shades of brown speckles dotted over the top. "Sorry to leave you on your birthday, Beth" I yelled, "But I really must be going" I gave the four of then a small salute and boarded the helicopter, folding my wing and being careful not to get blown away. "Good to have you back, Robyn" said Agent Coulson, handing me a tablet. I nodded and took the tablet, but didn't reply.
