--) Loki's POV (--
~Two Months Later~
Two months. Two long, slow, heartbreaking months without her. I had spent them doing absolutely nothing of value, much to my dismay. Walking around, remembering. At least half of it was spent sitting next to her hospital bed.
I sat next to her right now, her hand in mine. I gently rubbed the back of her hand, willing her to wake, just like I had been doing for the past two months. I glanced at the IV drip in her wrist, and my eyes wandered up to the machine she was hooked up to.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Her heart was beating normally, but still she lay dormant. After she had passed out in the street, she hasn't woken up. Two months. The doctors were starting to fear the worst, even though her heart rate and breathing were normal.
My eyes glanced to my right where her delicate wing lay on a separate bed pushed up close. The right wing lay on the other side, on another bed. It had a cast covering it, with bandages holding it together. The uncovered feathers at the bottom looked ripped.
I continued to look her over, just like every day. Her arms and legs were heavily bandaged, covering up the wounds and scratches. There would be many scars.
Finally I looked up at her face, the part that upset me the most. The whole left side was heavily covered in bandages and padding, but I had seen it without. Huge, gaping wounds crawling from her forehead all the way down to her chin and neck. It was where she suffered most, if not her right wing.
Squeezing her hand one last time, I got up and walked to the end of her bed, where a clipboard hung. It was a summary of her name, birthday, etcetera. But it also had an official diagnosis of her injuries.
Most of it I didn't understand, but a doctor had explained. "She may never be able to use her right wing again" he had said, reading over the clipboard. "And there's no hope for her eye" he had finished. To think that she'll be blinded in her left eye sent shivers up my spine. That is, if she ever woke up. I refused to even think her name, of fear of tears.
I sat back down on my chair and took her hand again. I listened to her heart monitor and hoped I would be able to hear her voice again.
