Chapter 3:

Ashton.

His name sticks in my head as I walk to my first class. I have English to start off, which isn’t too bad. I mean it’s a double, so I hope I don’t have a shitty teacher or students.

What if I have Kate and the gang?

If I do, I hope I have a big class so there will be witnesses if they try to murder me.

I walk down the busy halls, people finishing off their first classes and rushing to the next, and people like me, just about to start off the year.

I follow the directions on my timetable, gradually ending up in an oversized room with half the seats taken already, I scan the heads hoping to not see the orange face with bright red lipstick.

I mentally sign in relief, I don’t know anyone in this class and honestly that’s the best.

I take my seat in the centre row, along the walkway so I have enough room. I pull out all the requirements for the class and wait patently for the final students and the teacher to enter.

A few basketball players I saw this morning enter the room, and I pray to not see the familiar golden hair. Luckily there was only a few and they take a seat behind me, loudly dropping their bags and laughing at nerdy guys they must have encounter with before class.

“Hey there.” I hear a voice from beside me, I look up to see the bright face of Lucy, the beautiful blonde I gossiped with this morning.

“Hi,” I stand from my seat so she can move into the row.

“So, how has your day been?” She asks as she places her bag down and takes a seat beside me.

“Well, this is my first class. I’ve just been wondering around all morning.” I reply, “How about you?”

“Eh, started off with art. We have to learn the theory to it before we get into the real stuff, but I guess it wasn't so bad.” She shrugs.

“So you here for art?”

“No, I’m in the photography course, but having to take another hobby class I guessed art would be the closest option.” She smiles.

“Photographer, nice.” I nod my head.

“Basketball?” She motions her head towards the ball at my feet.

“Yep.”

“Better hope Kate and the squad aren’t cheering for you.” Lucy laughs.

“God, I didn't even think of that.” I sign.

I basically only thought they’d be cheering for the boys basketball, football and soccer teams. Not the girls.

“I’m lucky enough to not have any classes with them.” She praises.

“Ugh, I have them in my home room, lucky to not have them here and hopefully they won’t go near a kitchen.” I mumble.

“Kitchen?” Lucy raises an eyebrow.

“I had to pick the stupid hobby class, cooking seemed fun.”

“What about your other class, you said you have basketball, cooking and then English. Do you have a forth?” Lucy questions

“Music.” I quietly answer. I don’t want people to know I do music, cause I came here for basketball and I don’t want to seem like an over achiever.

“Oh no.” Lucy shakes her head.

“What?”

“Music is Kate’s, Jasmine’s and Abby’s gifted talent.” She admits.
