Chapter 10:

Yep, English is by far the worst class. We just read stories about authors lives and how they changed the story.

It’s inspirational and all, but it’s so boring.

I sat in the corner on my own for the class, Lucy was no where to be seen. Actually come to think of it, I haven’t seen her since my last english lesson where she ran off.

I enter the quiet library and sit down at a table against the window, looking out towards the park.

I sit my basketball homework in front of me and put my headphones into my ears, ready to zone out for the remaining hour.

“Cassie?” I feel a nudge on my shoulder. “Cassie, wake up?”

I raise my head, my neck striking with pain and my pen stuck to my face.

“Cassie, god, look at you.” I hear a laugh, and the pain in my neck is too much so I place my head back down, now only just deciding to open my eyes.

The sun has disappeared and is replaces by rain, at first I find it hard to figure at where I am, but as my eyes adjust I notice shapes. The faint outline of curly hair is in front of me and I laugh along with the boy.

“What are you doing?” Ashton questions, now placing his hand between the desk and my cheek, slowly pushing the pen away from the place in which it was plastid.

“I think I have a headache.” I smile to my idiotic thought in the first place to shut my eyes for a moment.

Ashton’s soft laugh awakens the butterflies in my stomach. It takes my a moment to realise Ashton’s hand hasn't left my cheek, nor has it tried to lift my head, he has simply just placed there for my own personal comfort.

“I think you should sit up.” He quietly states.

I raise my head, my eyebrows frowning at the strong pain. Soon a warm hand is touching the back of my neck, easing the pain slightly.

I look towards Ashton, giving him a thanking smile as I try to force my back to straighten. Once at a satisfyingly straight posture do I try to turn my neck.

“Holy crap.” I hiss as I turn my neck about 30 degrees.

“You know, you’re the only girl I know that wakes up in a good mood. Even if she is a twisted neck.” Ashton laughs, but I take is comment a completely different way.

“I didn’t mean it like that, it just..god I really didn’t think that through. I umm…” he stutters, realise that I wasn't laughing along with him.

“Shh, I told you I have a headache.” I ignore is panicked response, silencing him.

“I have a sister, and cousins. That’s what I meant.” He silently replies.

I turn back to face him as my neck calms itself from the stiffness.

“I understand.” I smile and relief take over Ashton’s face.

“So, what do you even listen to that put you to sleep.” He asks as he picks up a headphone off the ground.

“Wait no, Ash!” I yank it away.

“Did you just call me Ash?” He smirks.

“What noo..” I roll up the headpieces and places them away from Ashton.
