Battle of the Bands

chapter 9

Calum's pov 

Shoni is smart, funny, and really everything you could want in a girl and her friends are the same, from what I have seen anyways. I think we should take the time to get to know them, but there is no way Luke will go for that. 

I'm pulled from my thoughts by Shoni, telling me to turn at the next corner. Then all of a sudden she sits up for the first time the whole car ride ant turns up the radio it isn't until she is starting to sing they lyrics then it clicks, how could I not have known, it is one of my favorite songs, I miss you, by blink 182. We sing and she sings harmony with me I didn't know she had that good of a voice, it was that amazing. As the song ends we pull up in front of her house, I notice a car sitting out front. "Hey, thanks for the help tonight. What is with the car sitting in the drive?" I ask. She turns to look at me and explains that it is a 1969 dodge charger, her dream car and that she blow the transmission and just needs the time to fix it. She then gets out of the car and walks to her house opens the door and I drive away.

Shoni's pov 

I wake up at four one morning, it has been a few days since I tutored Calum. Being that it is four in the morning I finally have time to fix my car it only takes a few minutes to figure out that it is just a hose that has melted and the only a matter of moments to fix it. After I get it fixed I go jump in the shower and decide to dress up a little. It's nice out, so I decide to were cut off's with a Blink 182 singlet, with a black and red plaid shirt tied on my waist. I curl my hair, and then I do my makeup, just basic nothing too over the top. After I eat breakfast and watch some tv. After a few hours, when normal people are beginning to wake up, I text the girls and tell them I got my car fixed so I can swing by and pick them up if they needed and they all said sure. 

When I pull into Shae's, I had already picked up the other girls. I spot Logan's truck just down the street, I dont think much of it he lives not fare from here, I'm not sure which house I just know it is not far. It isn't until I pull into the drive do I realize he is here. When they realize I'm there they have to peel themselves off of eachother. How could I of all people have thought that I actually had a chance with him. He is better than me in many ways but I'm better in one that counts the most, loyalty. When Logan realizes who it is he tries to play it cool but I can't. I just pull put out of the drive and to school. 

It ends up being the longest day ever. When Luke and them try to bug me I don't even notis I'm just numb. It isn't until last period that I remember I have to tutor Luke and Calum again. Great just what I need, someone to point out all the flaws they think I can't already see. Right after class I head to the library and am not surprised when the boys are not there. I decide to start flipping threw my book to see what I should get them to work on next. As I'm flipping Calum walks in and a few moments later Luke basically being drug by our teacher. 

"You think, you can teach me something? Do ya?" Luke sneers as he sits down and the teacher walks away. 

"You know you can say what you want to me and about me but I really dont care any more."I inform him. "So what is it that you need to work on?" neither of them answer. Great another day like this again. 

"I'm only here because my parents said I have to be." Luke informs me. 

"Yes but are we just going to sit here or are we actually going to do something?" Luke glares at me sending a shiver down my spine. "Ok, Calum do you want to continue from where we left off last time?" 

"I guess" he mumbles, accent thicker than usual. I have found that he was never really thought the basic math which is needed for higher level math's. So we basically started over from times tables and long division. Today my plan is to put the times tables and long division into formulas to solve problems. As for luke he not only scares me so that I half the time won't ask but he also refuses to participate. Finlay it's time for me to leave. We all get up and go our separate ways. By the time I get outside I'm joined by Calum. 

"You know, Luke really isn't a bad guy once you get to know him." Calum tells me. 

"And why would I have reason to believe that?" I question, "he has tortured me since the day  got here." I snap. But catch myself before I totally flip out. "Sorry I just had a rough day, but you probably wouldn't care." 

"Why would you think that, I'm human to and have feelings to you know," he informs me. 

"I know but sometimes I wonder if you think that about other people." I tell him. But he still persists that I tell him so I tell him about what had happened that morning. 

"So that is why you didn't react to Luke, Mike, or Ash," he connects the dots. the male subspecies I swear they are so dense and so slow to process things sometimes. "I see you got your car fixed" he mentions changing the subject. 

"Ya it was just a melted hose and super easy to fix." I tell him. 

"So you are into cars?" he says a little confused. 

"Yah you could say that, I like cars and can fix most things minor, I just dont have the tools to fix anything really major." I explain. Just then my phone goes off and it is a message from the girls, "I have to go," I tell Calum he says goodbye. I jump in my car and am off to see what is so important.

When I get back to my place I go into the band room. When I get there the girls are already there sitting on the couch. well all except Shae, I told them that is I had to talk to her about anything today, I would probably kill her or someone else. "So what was so important?" I ask as I my flop down in my bean bag chair while grabbing my new electric guitar and playing a few cords while I wait for an answer. 

"Well, Shae wanted to talk to you, but we told her it was probably not a good idea," Shy explains. 

"Good idea" I can just imagine how that would have turned out. 

"Okay so, in other news, there is a battle of the bands at our school, in a month. not just for our school though, anyone in the area can enter." Tia informs us. 

"Cool, we should enter," Shy exclaims. We all agree. 

"So, do the songs have to be originals?" I ask. 

"There are three rounds, auditions, which can be a cover or an original, round two has to be a cover and round three an original," Tia explains, "after round one there will be ten and after round two there will be down to two. the winners of each round get money and so do second and third, the grand winner gets a record deal." 

"Sweet, so what are we going to do for our cover and we need a new original." I ask and remind them. 

We brain storm songs we can cover and deCide to do lego house by Ed Sheeran. Shy decides to text Shae and tell her and he is okay with is, because she is still in the band at this point. 

AN omg sorry i haven't uploaded in ages school and life have been super crazy lately, hope to upload way more often.
