Battle of the Bands

chapter 7

Shoni's pov 

Logan pulls in the drive and I am out the door I get to his truck and hop in the passenger seat. I hear Johnny Horton Rock Island Line faintly so I turn the radio up and start to sing along to it. 

"The rock island line is a mighty good road,

The rock island line is the rode to ride.

The rodkonaline is a mighty good road if you ride it you gotta ride it like you finally got your ticket at the station gona rock island line. " I sing and Logan glances at me "I know I'm off key but oh well." 

"Oh, no it isn't that, I just never thought a girl like you would like this music," he says I think he is still shocked. 

"Growing up around it, it's part of me, who I am. I don't know who I would be if I wasn't raised the way I was." I tell him. 

"Well I'm sure you have some more surprises up your sleeve and I can't wait to see what they are," he exclaims as we pull into the barns. 

We get out of the truck. On our way to the barn I see this stocky black horse. He looks about three, stalky build, a white star in the middle of his for haid. I find myself walking in his direction but I am stopped by Logan grabbing my arm. 

"Don't go near him" he says fear clear in his face. 

"Why?" I ask him 

"That horse is crazy" he tells me.

"I'm sure he's not that bad." 

"We should really get these chores done," he tells me about four times before I give in and go with him. 

We go in and do chores but as I walk out of a stall I see a tall blond boy in a blue shirt, with breeches and riding boots. I don't even have to look again to tell who it is, Luke. Why is he here and why is he wearing riding clothes? He turns and before he can see me I jump back into the stall I just came out of. Thank god he walked right past and didn't even notice me. 

When I am done chores I take one more check to make sure everything is done. Then I go out to find Logan. When I get out the door I see three guys fighting with the black horse I saw earlier I walk over to them calmly and grab the horse's halter. once I have a good hold I start rubbing circles on the star that is bright against his black coat. He calms down in no time, I then realize the three guys holding the rope are staring at me, I then realize who they are, Logan, Luke, and one of the guys who was there the day I first showed up at the barn. They are all just standing there gaping at me. "What?" I ask them.

"How did you do that?" "Where did you learn to do that?" "Since when do you come here?" They all said at the same time. 

" Logan I used a trick I picked up from training horses. You, I don't know you're name" I tell them, like what I had just done was nothig 

"Names Dave," he tells me.  

"Ok, Dave I learnt that as a kid back in canada, from my uncle, and Luke I got a job as a groom a week ago." I tell them 

I then turn back to the horse to ensure he is not getting worked up. The three of them just stand there and watch what I do. Once I have checked that the horse is fine i turn back to the boys who are still staring at me. i then turn and walk to the barn with the horse. 

Luke's pov 

I get stuck helping the groom's try to bring in Diablo. We fight with him for a few minouts and right when we are abput to give up this girl shows up out of no were. She walks calmy over to the horse grabing his halter and jentaly making cercls on his for head, and he relaxis. Once she has him calmed down she turns and I get a chance to see who the blonde beauty is, that is that good with horses. When she turnd I realized it was Shoni and was amased I have never sean this side of her, minde you I haven't seen many sides of her. I can help but stare. 

When she has turned around and sees us searing at her she imedeatly resonds with, "what?" Like what had just happened was the most normal thing.

"Since when do you comw here?" I ask, as Logan and Dave ask there own questions.

"Logan I used a trick I picked up from training horses. You, I don't know you're name," She resonds simply.

"Names Dave," he tells her.  

"Ok, Dave I learnt that as a kid back in canada, from my uncle, and Luke I got a job as a groom a week ago." She tells us.

We still just stand there in awe as she turns back to the horse to check Diablo  over one last time. Then she stands and leads him into the barn leaving the three of us standing here confused.

Sorry it took so long to update. Life was nuts for a wile and ik this chapter was not that great but the next ones should be better.
