Dipper P.O.V

Today is the twenty-second day of June; Summerween. The very first summer Mabel and I came to Gravity Falls Grunkle Stan explained that the townspeople loved Halloween so much that they celebrated it twice a year.

That summer we encountered the Halloween Trickster. Luckily we defeated him and there has been no sign of him since. Today is going to be a fun Summerween.

Wendy's friends always have a party for Summerween instead of trick-or-treating, but I've never gone to one. I would have, but something always happens that makes me change my mind. I would rather stay at home now that Wendy isn't here anyway.

It took me a very long time to get over my crush on her. Sometimes I still think about her, but not in a romantic way. She is my friend. She put me in the friend zone and that was where I was doomed to stay. Now I have finally moved on and think of her as nothing more than a friend.

Currently, I have no interest in any romantic relationships. I have never been good with talking to any of the girls back home and long distance isn't something I would want to have to resort to. Soos did it with his wife, but I'm not sure I would be able to do that.

I brought a costume this year instead of buying one at the last minute. Unfortunately, since Mabel isn't here we can't have our twin costumes like we normally do, but that's all right. This year I get to nerd out to a costume of my choice.

I am dressed up as Probabilitor, the wizard from 'Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons.'" I have been wanting to do this costume for a very long time, but Mabel always wanted to dress up as something that was coordinating. That's why I am glad I'm alone this Summerween.

Because I've actually defeated Probabilitor with Grunkle Ford, with the help of Mable and Grunkle Stan, I know how he acts. That only makes the costume that much better. I am very excited, even though I do not have anything to do.

I will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at the Mystery Shack. That will be my Summerween night. It may not sound exciting, but I'm too old to go out and ask for candy.

The night moves along rather slowly. Most of the kids don't understand the costume because not many kids play games like that nowadays. It's a bit sad, but when one kid recognizes who you are it makes you feel a lot better.

The night is still very young. Not too many kids venture out to the Mystery  Shack for candy. There is a lot left that I snack on because of boredom. Growing up causes a lot of it apparently.

"Hey Dipper, why don't you go out tonight instead of staying in? It's still early and you haven't been out in a couple days. Go have fun," Grunkle Stan tells me while pushing me out the door.

I sigh and walk away from the Mystery Shack. I suppose I'll be spending Summerween outside by myself.
