I've been told the story so many times by now that it's permanently ingrained in my memory. The year was 2002. My mother, Ebony had met this guy, Moloch, at a club. Not gonna go into the gory details about what happens next. A few weeks after, she decided that she wanted more out of life than what she was given. She went to Ally. She owns a little shop on the Upper East Side - Ally's Ailment Answers - that's basically remedies for anything under the sun. She makes them with herbs and flowers and shit and, of course, a touch of magic. Ebony wanted eternal life. Ally warned her of the price of such magic.
"All magic comes with a price," she said, "for this, the price is another life. Your firstborn child which, I assume, will arrive sooner than you think."
She took the potion and got a pregnancy test that day. Sure enough, the test was positive. Fast forward nine months, there are only three people in the delivery room. Ebony, Ally, and the doctor. Of course, eventually me. Unlike most give-me-your-child cliches, Ally gave my mom her address so she could come and visit me. She even offered to let her name me. All she said was "I have what I want. You have what you want."
She didn't even name me. Ally took me back to her apartment over the shop that night. She had everything set up already. I had plenty of clothes, food, toys, we even had a fish for a while. Before putting me to sleep that night, she gave me my name.
"Ezra," she said, "Ezra Azazel Miller."
My dad however is a different story. He's a demon named Moloch. He caught wind of a rumor having to do with me. I was considered powerful, having being born to a demon father and Ally's magic effecting me somehow. Naturally, he investigated. He traced me back to Ebony and showed up at the apartment when I was about three months old. He basically said "I made that. It's mine."
Ally let him have partial custody over me. I visited hell every weekend, and he came up to earth for thanksgiving, my birthday, and (ironically) father's day. They decided to just move in together instead of going through all the precautions of transporting a baby through multiple dimensions every week. They bought a house in the central park area where there is a large concentration of otherworldly beings. Obviously, the predictable thing happens: they fall in love and have another kid. My sister, Rowan is born when I'm two years old, and they got married not long after.
The cliche ending to a cliche story. When we were old enough, Ally started to let us help her in the shop after school for a small allowance. We often ran deliveries for her, but only in a five block radius. Anything longer than that Dad did.
Our parents always had trust in us. At five, we both started learning magic. Some self defense, basic healing, learning to make the potions from Mom, and from dad, fun little tricks. Telepathy and telekinesis and stuff like that. Now, we have a nice condo on the west side of Central Park. Mom makes good money off the shop and Dad does whatever he does in Hell. Roe is 13 and in eighth grade, and my best friend Dal and I are 15 and in tenth. He's the only one of my human friends that knows about our parents.
What's up buttercup?
Beware. We both say cringy shit like that. This is a joint account between me and my buddy Sierra, so the Tesh side of the account wrote this part. I'll be writing all of Ezra's chapters, she writes all of Dal's chapters.
Vote, comment, add it to your library, I don't care.
Peace out girl scout ;)
