Katelyn's POV
It's been a month, and Audrey is off her crutches but still benched from sports. She's pretty bummed about it so she came over for dinner. Though it's a Thursday night, we are all tired and ready for the weekend. Christmas is in a week, New years in two. I'm getting excited.
"So, Audrey, where's your little brother?" My mother asked her, taking a bite of the grilled chicken on her plate.
"He went to his friend's house for a playdate."
"I see, are your parents coming home for Christmas?" She continued.
"Probably, I'll message Mom after dinner and find out. They weren't here last year so they might be this year."
"That's nice; what are you doing for Christmas?"
"Not sure, I have been wanting to throw a party or something for the basketball team since I'm benched." Audrey frowned.
"I'll help!" I shouted, raising my hand high.
"Really, Katelyn?" She asked me, "It will probably have to be a New Years party instead because of time. Also, I don't want to pull people away from their families on Christmas."
"Sure! Why not? I like parties, and New Years Eve!"
"Well, girls, I'll be your driver if you ever need a ride." My mom chimed, taking her cleared plate and walking to the kitchen with it.
"Thank's Katelyn, for helping me with this party." Audrey whispered, moving her hand onto mine under the table.
"Anytime. We need to have it ready by the week off, we need decorations, food, party favors, music, all that jazz." I responded with a smile. After having some pie for dessert, I walked Audrey out to her car that was parked in our driveway.
"Thank you. Again." She said quietly.
"No problem, stop thanking me would ya?" I gave her a look and felt the blush form on my cheeks, as usual.
"Have you talked to James lately?" I asked curiously.
"Totally, he texts me like, every single day." She replied with a sigh.
"Must be fond of your presence." I winked,
"I'm 90% sure he likes you by the way."
"What? Why?"
"I don't know, I guess it's the way he acts around you." I shrugged.
"You know I wouldn't like, date him, right?" Audrey looked at me with the same look I gave her when she cried on my shoulder, sympathy and worry.
"I guess so."
"Katelyn, let me remind you I'm a lesbian. And James is a boy." She replied. This made me giggle,
"Glad you're owning up to the title." I grinned.Audrey kind of stared at me for a minute, in awkward silence until she whispered,
"Where's your mom?"
"Washing dishes." I answered quietly, wondering where the question came from. She suddenly grabbed my shoulders and turned me around so I was against her car. She held my shoulders pinned against the black Kia.
"You're really cute, know that?" She whispered. When I only shrugged she didn't waste a second and kissed me smack on the lips. I wrapped my hands around her neck and her arms moved to my sides. In all honesty, my mind went completely blank, like no one else was even alive. I pulled away when I heard a car coming. Audrey looked at me and smiled, she kissed me again, for what seemed like minutes, before she got into her car and started it up. She waved goodbye and as soon as she was out of sight I ran into my room and thought about everything.~~~~~
'Do normal people do that much if they aren't in a relationship? Is that some sort of rule? OMG! Did I just break an unspoken rule of relationships?!' These thoughts ran laps in my mind as I stared blankly at my ceiling from my floor.
"Katelyn, honey! Are you up there?" My mom hollered from downstairs.
"Yeah, Mom!" I yelled back, going back to my thoughts.
"Ok, I'm going to bed!" She shouted. I told her goodnight and sat up to get into bed and die!Audrey's POV
I drove home in a daze, still mesmerized by our little make out session. 'Wow... I cannot believe I did that.' I finally pulled into my driveway and got out of my car. I unlocked the door of my empty house and walked up the stairs to my room where I then proceeded to throw myself onto the bed. 'Why am I freaking out? It was only a kiss. Okay... maybe it was more than a kiss.' I just shook my head and stared at the ceiling until I eventually fell asleep.

It was the morning of New Year's Eve. Christmas was uneventful because my parents couldn't make it, again. They sent a letter to tell me that they were going to be gone for another two weeks and gave me enough money to last Davie and I. Apparently they had this breakthrough discovery and yada yada. When Davie wasn't home, I would go over to Riley's house occasionally. Katelyn did stop by on Christmas Day to spend some time with me. Sometimes I wonder what I would do without her. She's been there for me and has always supported me, literally.
I got up this morning and walked down the stairs. Davie was sitting on the couch watching more cartoons.
"Hey, Buddy," I greeted him.
"Hello, Sissy," He gave me a small grin.
"I'm having a sleepover tonight with the basketball teams. Do you want to go over to one of your friends houses since it'll be mostly girls and older boys?" I asked him. Davie nodded his head.
I dropped Davie of at his friend's house later that day. When I got home, my phone buzzed. I checked it and saw that I had a text message.James: Still having your New Years party tonight?
Me: Yeah, it's gonna start around six. The girls and I are going to have a sleepover tho
James: Guessing that means I can't stay the night then?
Me: Lol that is correct
Me: I gtg and get things readyI quickly ended the conversation with James. I sighed in exasperation. James has been getting very difficult to deal with lately. Don't get me wrong, he's an okay kid, but I hope he doesn't get the wrong message by me just being kind to him. I threw myself onto the couch and checked the time. '3:25, I should be able to take a quick nap before the party starts.'
Knock knock.
I quickly jump up off the couch when I heard the knocking at my door. I suddenly remembered the party. 'Shit. I only meant to take a power nap not sleep for a century.' I stumble to the door and open it. On the other side stood Katelyn, beaming at me with a large box in her arms. I sighed in relief.
"Someone's happy to see me," Katelyn said with a small laugh as she walked in. I yawned and rubbed my eyes.
"No, I took a nap and I thought I overslept," I paused for a moment, "but I guess I am glad to see you."
"That's nice to know" Katelyn said sarcastically.
I playfully shoved her.
"Come on," I said," we need to set up the decorations and snacks."<><><><><>
