Chapter 19

Ellington pov-
*week later*
My phone rang and Lottie's face popped up on the screen
"Hey" I said singsongy.
"Ell.. I.." She said in full tears. The smile dropped from my face and I sat on the bed
"Lottie. What's up?"I was now really worried
"I.. Whiskers..." She struggled to get the words out
"You stay there I'm coming over"
"Okay"
I put the phone down and threw on some shoes and a jumper and rushed out the door and into the car. I managed to get to her house in just over 5 minutes. I knocked on the door and it flung open, Lottie looked a wreck. I managed to get inside and closed the door. I put my arms out and she fell into them.
"Shhh it's okay" I said trying to calm down the sobbing girl in my arms. "What was that about whiskers?"
Another bout of tears flooded from her eyes as she buried her face into my chest. I stroked her hair softly and she finally managed to calm down. We walked over to the sofa and I sat down, Lottie sat right up against me and I put an arm round her as she wiped her eyes.
" you know whiskers went to the vet?" Lottie said in no more than a whisper.
"Yeah"
"He got put down. He was just too ill"
More tears escaped her eyes as I pulled her close. The room was silent except the muffled sound of Lottie weeping and me gently talking to her trying to calm her again.
She stopped crying again and looked at me
"Thank you" she said with a weak smile
" what for?"
"Being here" she gave another weak smile
"Why wouldn't I be. You were upset. I couldn't just leave you. I hate to think you'd be upset" she gave me another hug and rested her head on my shoulder.
"I love you"
As soon as she said those words I felt myself blush. I knew she meant like as a friend but I never thought I'd hear those words from her about me.
I put my jumper round her and she snuggled up next to me and turned the tv on.
