[Hey people, just a heads up I won't be making cover pictures for every chapter. If a new character shows up, I will do something with them. For now each cover is going to be a picture of where the story takes place. I hope you are enjoying Ryan's adventure so far. Later my peeps]
July 17:
3 Months had gone by since Ryan had his first day of training. He had advanced on his training with absolutely no trouble. He mastered all the Hive enemies including the never before seen Ogres. Within the 2nd month he had advanced past the Fallen tactic training which had been introduced recently due to the wide spread attacks on Earth by the Fallen. Now our widely known Guardian is two days away from completing the arts of the Warlock.August 17th:
Ryan pushes his weight off his bed. He gives a long stretch the relieve the pressure that sleep had left him with. He manages to get up only to begin his day.
Sense hovers around Ryan's head excited for Ryan's big day, which was creeping up fast.
"Ryan, Talon requested to see you as soon as you are ready."
Ryan nods as he dresses up in his Warlock gear. He picked up his Warlock bond, which Talon gave him for destroying the Hive army that was used for combat training. He didn't feel bad for killing them. He showed no mercy only because of their history towards Ryan's people.
Sense watched him as he looked down at the bond. " Your sister would love to hear that story."
He laugh then faces sense. "She would, wouldn't she?"
He grabs his gun and places it on his back. "Alright, I'm ready."
Sense nods, his parts rotated as he he faces the door.
When they arrived to Talons office, they were excepting a surprise take down. Sadly Talon was standing in the middle of the room tossing a circle piece of metal in the air. Ryan stood there watching Talon as his head followed the coin.
Talon catches it and looks at Ryan. "I don't know why these training classes are so short. I could teach you so much more, but it is what it is."
Ryan walks closer confused to Talons change of his of schedule. "Are we going to do some training to day or are you just feeling lonely?"
Talon laughs quietly to Ryan's small joke. "No , I'm sending you home. Well not home exactly. I want you to deliver this." Talon tosses the coin to Ryan.
Ryan runs his finger on the edge of the coin as he inspects it. "Just a coin? That's all you want me to do?"
He stores the coin in his pocket then looks at sense then back at Talon.
"All this for a coin. Saturn isn't as close as you may think."
Talon walked past Ryan. He gave him a pat on the back. "You won't regret it, trust me it's an adventure." Talon laughs loudly as he walked away. "Extraction is in ten, don't be late."
Ryan was speechless, the thought of being a delivery boy sickened him.
Sense expands slightly as he rotates his parts.
"Come on, we won't be getting anywhere if we stand here. The world needs us you know."
Ryan pulls his gun from his back. "Set me up a couple rounds, I need to blow off steam."
Sense gave Ryan a look of disappointment, "You shouldn't be mad at him because of a stupid mission. Look we all have to do stuff we don't want to, so let's go together."
Ryan gave sense a sharp look as if the words that came from sense were poison. He then storms off to his headquarters.
Moments later sense met up with Ryan. Sense thought leaving him be would be the best thing for him, but it's 2 minutes before extraction.
"Ryan, are you ready?"
Ryan was holding a small backpack over his shoulder with one strap so his Suros could rest too. Ryan said absolutely nothing on the way to his ship.
"Ryan, I detect that something is bothering you."
Ryan slid his helmet on then gripped the controls of the ship. He went through a combination of button pushing which made the ship lift up from the ground.
Talon's voice could be heard from Ryan's communicator.
"Our little friend is waiting for you at these coordinates."
A green dot appeared on a map that was on the upper left of Ryan's ship main windshield. Ryan gave a thumbs up to show that he reads but wasn't going to talk.
Sense sighs and frustration. "Are you going to talk to us any time soon?"
Ryan gave him a harsh glace. Hours had passed. Ryan had calmed down a little.
Sense looked out towards Earth.
"Talon, he have arrived to Earth. Shall we go for a landing soon."
Talon looked at his holographic computer from the comfort of his office. "Keep going for a bit. He's in the United States, well where it used to be anyway. It shouldn't be hard to find since he loves to be at a high vantage point."
A green dot grew closer to them as Ryan flew his small jump ship. 30 minutes passed, Ryan had safely landed his ship at an old parking lot near one of the biggest building structures around. It didn't look fancy, mainly because of the Fallen's attack on the United States.
Sense flew up the side of the tall building giving off scans. Sense was flying down the halls on the top floor while Ryan surveyed the bottom. Frustration built in Ryan's tone. "How do we know if the bastard is even alive?"
Sense hovers 40 floors above Ryan scanning each room. "We don't, this is one of the few things we have to keep in mind while doing our jobs."
Ryan growled in anger. He punched the wall which echoed around him. "This place sounds dead, let's get out of here."
Sense laughs through the communicator, "What's with you today?"
Ryan loaded his gun then aimed it to inspect it's sights. "I'm doing this job for my first mission."
Sense paused, "What's wrong with the mission?"
Ryan stopped in his tracks. The sound of a jump ship was advancing. "Sense can you get eyes on the ship?"
Sense attempts to scan the skies. He scans again and again but no readings.
"Ryan, I can't see them. Come up and help, maybe it's our guy."
Ryan nods then breaks into a sprint towards the stairs. Sense met up with Ryan. They were quiet. Moments later three ships dropped from the sky in an organized fashion.
Sense stared off into the distance. "They are incredible. Let's see with they want to talk to us."
Sense focuses on one of the ship which flew slower than the others.
Silence had built up as sense tried to connect to one of the flying ships.
Sense parts expanded in fear, "we have to get out now." Sense darted towards the stairs. Ryan followed confused as ever.
"What is it? Did they say something to you?" Ryan began to panic as sense flew faster.
Sense could only be heard from Ryan's communicator. "Yeah we talked. They said that they would-"
One of the ships fired and missile at the floor above them cause their floor to shake. Ryan fell smacking his head against the wall. Fortunately our young hero didn't take his helmet off. He pulled himself up and kept his speed. Ryan yelled, "What did you say to them?"
Sense shot down the halls. "Well it sort of when down like this. Hi, my friend and I are looking for someone. Our mission is to deliver. Then they started locking on to us."
Another explosion pierced the building cause both Ryan and sense to launch against the wall. This time Ryan was knocked out cold.
Two hour had passed, sense watched Ryan. He was wrapped in bandages from the attack. Moments after the attack from the three ships, a group of Guardians who Sense had never seen before took both of them to a base near their location. Sense had thanked their leader for taking such actions.
Ryan rolled to his side. His eyes slowly opened. Sense flew into view.
"Morning Ryan, well afternoon."
Ryan lifts his back up resting one hand on the bed for support. "Where are we?" Ryan attempts to get up.
"Whoa dude, chill for a bit. You're badly injured."
Ryan griped his side. His head was pounding from the blast.
Sense flew upwards then around Ryan. "You had a steel beam shoot through your left side. Plus because of the blast you fell 4 stories which gave a great deal of head trauma. You're lucky to be in such a good condition. It's like you have an angel watching out for you."
Ryan rolled his eyes. "When can I leave?"
Sense hovered in place rotating his parts. "Soon, they are working up something that can make you body instantly recover. Of course it would only last for a couple days."
Ryan blew air up from his mouth causing a few pieces of hair to move.
"So a super human Guardian, great."
Sense laughs, "Oh no, you can still get hurt and die like a normal Guardian, you just can recover a lot faster than normal."
One of the doctors walked in. He said nothing. Two more came through the door. One of the doctors pulled down his mask. "My name is Doctor Shim. These two will be moving you to room I-23."
The room was pure white. Nothing was a different color. Ryan looked at the floor. His reflection stuck out like a sore thumb.
The two doctors walked on each side of Ryan. The doctor to his left pulled his mask down. "Ryan, is it?"
Ryan gave a slight nod.
"We have to put you to sleep. The process is very painful so putting you to sleep is our best bet. But first we must do a blood test."
Ryan looks at sense. He didn't trust these people. Sense gave him another nod.
The doctor put a mask over Ryan's mouth. The asked him questions only to help him sleep.
" Do you like playing games?"
Ryan gave him a small nod.
"Good, I'll ask you a question then it will be my turn. What's your favorite color?"
Ryan was silent for a little bit. "Red. Now your turn, what's your name."
The man smiled, "Dr.Roth, Ben Roth."
The doctor on his right slid a needle in Ryan's neck. Ryan noticed that the doctor was not taking blood for his test, but had injected him with a thick liquid.
Ryan stiffened up. "What is this place, why am I here, and who the hell are you people."
Dr. Roth laughed, "Now, now Ryan, one question at a time. You're breaking the rules."
Ryan's vison blured. He looked at sense and mouthed "where'sU my gun."
Sense looked down.
Ryan slowed his breathing then started to count down from 3.
"Why are you counting Ryan?"
Ryan got to 1 then he pushed both of them away really hard sending them back a couple feet. He reached down for his gun. "Let's go!"
Sense gave the two doctors one scan before running.
Ryan and sense were both running through a series of halls.
Ryan turned to sense. "You better start talking."
Sense laughed out in embarrassment, "I wasn't sure if you were going to make it. They had contacted me soon after the three ships had attacked. They seemed like nice people." A long pause settled between them which was broken by sense. "Look we have a lot more on our plate then we realize. The Hive isn't our only problem. I'll explain when we are safe."
Ryan's speed started to increase as his injuries started to heal. "Sense, remote navigate the ship to the other side of the building, I have a plan."
Ryan began shoot every glass door that was stand in his way.
"Ryan, is that really necessary?"
Ryan laughed, "No but it sure feels good plus it badass. How's that ship coming a long?"
Sense did an x-ray scan of the area. "It's almost there, it won't be there before us, but we can wait."
The buildings alarm system rang to life.
Ryan laughed, "I kind of expected that to be completely honest?"
Sense narrowed his eyes, "It's never easy isn't it?"
Ryan ran faster. "Yesssssss." He jumped in excitement.
Ryan could see the guards which were armed with autorifles and pulserifles due to the reflection of the glass. He formed a fire ball. He held it for a bit with one hand as he continued to shoot down the glass doors with the other.
He tossed the fire ball behind him causing a giant explosion as one of the guard's bullets had detonated the ball of fire.
Ryan laughed. He ran faster as he got close to the window.
Sense yelled in a panic, "It's not here yet."
He shot the window then grabbed sense with his free hand. Ryan jumped without hesitation watching the ground as he fell. The sound of Ryan's ship could be heard from the distance.
Sense cried out, "You're crazy!"
Ryan flipped in the air bracing himself for his landing. His boots screeched against his ship.
Ryan laughed,"I've never skated a ship before."
He road off into the distance. Once he was a safe distance from the base he went inside him ship.
Sense floated in the ship in relief. "Geez kid, what if your plan hadn't worked?"
Ryan shrugged,"It is what it is."
Sense started to yell. "You jumped from a 115 story building and that all you have to say?"
Ryan turn towards Sense, he took off his helmet placing it on a desk that was in front of him. Ryan points to Sense and makes a clicking noise.
"Were you scared?"
Suddenly Sense was stuck in a flash back. His first partner he had appeared right in front of him where Ryan was standing.
Sense whispered, "Stupid human" then laughs. He snapped out of it.
Ryan looked at him confused as ever. "Me, more like thank you for doing your job and getting us out of that shit hole."
Sense smiled, "Thank you Ryan."
Ryan smiled back then turns back around. He took a seat in the cockpit. He took the controls. "So do we go home? We couldn't find the guy."
Sense nods "Yeah, the mission was a fail to begin with. I wonder if the guy even was alive to begin with."
Ryan laughed. "Wow he played us good if he wasn't."
Ryan's ship jumped violently causing a high pitch ringing noise to echo throughout the ship.
Sense flew closer to Ryan. "Come on this is getting out of hand."
Ryan's ship crashes into a couple of trees before actually hitting the ground. Once everything was calm, Ryan and Sense walked up of the crashed ship.
A team of three which involved a Warlock, hunter, and a titan stood in front of Ryan.
The titan waved his hand up. "Um, Ryan Vask is it? Yeah come with us. Our boss would like to see you."
Ryan had a scratch on his arm which went away in a couple of minutes. Soon sense, Ryan, and the team of three arrived at the Tower in Old Russia. A man had guided sense and Ryan to a empty room. "My name is John Marth, feel free to clean up and rest. Tomorrow our leader will arrive and meet with you." John walked away before Ryan could speak a word.
Ryan stretched out over the nicely made bed. "Ah perfect."
Sense looked at Ryan, "You were just kidnapped by people and now you're okay with it?"
Ryan laughed, "These people haven't tried to knock me out yet, plus the bed is really nice."
Ryan and sense sat in the dark a little bit.
"You never told me what the other people were going to do to me."
Sense blinked trying to put what he had learned in a simple and understand able way.
"They are against us, the human race. They want to heal people and give them to the Vex. The Vex would turn those people into their Vex Army by removing their humanity. They would slowly turn them into mindless creatures. It's been recorded that this practice had been used many times before. Our world isn't messed up because of the Hive and the Fallen, we have many things that are out for our Light."
Ryan closes his eyes as the pillow hugged the back of his head. " They will all pay."
Ryan thought of his little sister. He thought of her warm hugs. He missed both his mom and his sister. Tears streamed down his cheeks. He made no sound. He didn't want to show weakness.
That night Ryan felt at home. He finally got to sleep under the same moon as his mom and sister did.
