July 18:
Sense hovered around the apartment like quarters while Ryan was his deep sleep. Sense never liked sleeping mainly because of what happened to his first partner. The feeling of not knowing what was around him always made his circuits spark. He looked out the window which would normally give a great view of a nice peaceful town, but the town was dead. The Fallen had conquered it. Nothing remained in a decent condition. Sense whispered to himself, "Ben, I wish I could of done something to help."
Sense was sucked into a flash back. Sound of explosions surrounded him. Sense turn towards Ben who was a Red and black Titan. Ben towered over most of the Titans. Ben looked at him, "Damn, these Fallen aren't going to quit." Ben laughed pulling out a sword which brighten to room as flames covered the blade. "Well sense, you'll be my eyes and I'll do what I do best."
Sense nodded, "Sounds like a plan." Sense flew up high. He made sure Ben never left his sights. A trail of fire emergered as Ben sliced pass the House of Devils scouting squad.
Sense laughed, "Doing great Ben. Hey take the trail to you're right. I'm seeing some, ahhh!-" Sense was shot down by a wire rifle. Sense hit the ground hard. "Ben I can see, I'm blind! don't move on out yet!"
Ben stopped in place. "Sense I'm coming!" Gun fire could be heard from the communicator.
Ben reached senses location. "I'm here buddy." He holstered his sword then picked up sense with care. "Everything is going to be okay. I'm taking you back to-"A loud pop flew from a distance. Ben fell to his knees and dropped causing sense to hit the ground.
Sense freaked out, "Ben, what happened? Are you okay? Ben, speak to me."
Ben laid next to sense as he bled out, "Hey, it's okay. Don't worry about me sense I'll be there next to you until the end."
Ben closed his eyes and silence fell around them.
Senses snapped out of his dark flash back to a loud thud which Ryan had made by falling off the bed.
Ryan groaned, "Ah what the hell man, These floors suck."
Sense laughed silently, "Morning, how'd you sleep."
Ryan rubbed his head. "Not very good. I had this weird dream, I can't explain it but it was something that I've never experienced before."
A voiced echoed through the base. "Ryan Vask, report to the Vanguard hall. Ryan Vask, report to the Vanguard hall."
Sense and Ryan looked at each other. Sense gave a slight nod, "You might want to get ready."
After getting ready Ryan and Sense walked down the maze of halls. They finally found the Vanguard hall which was on the lower level. They were greeted by a Hunter. He wasn't human, but not alien either.
The Hunter waved his robotic hand. "Hey Warlock, how are things." The Hunter laughs.
" The name is Cayde-6, just call me Cayde."
Cayde walked over to a map. He pointed to the detailed map of the moon. " We've detected movement in this area." Cayde points at the spot on the map which was labeled The HellMouth. Cayde gave a small smile, "We don't know what it is so scout it out Guardian."
Ryan looked at Cayde confused to what was going on. The young Guardian tossed his hands up in the air, "Listen Cayde, I'm not staying here. I'm not one of your members and I certainly won't risk my life for something like that."
Cayde laughed, "We'll have a ship ready for you in 20 minutes. Don't be late kid."
Ryan gave him a disgusted look, "I'm not a kid."
Cayde turn around then started to laugh, "Then prove it." Cayde walked off shaking his head. He mumbled under his breath, "He'll thank me later. Oh he will, they always do. I'm awesome."
15 minutes passed by, Ryan was geared up and ready to take off. Cayde was surprised to see the Guardian at the ship at such a early time. "You know you have like 5 minutes to chill right?" Cayde clapped his hands together, "Well, let's go over some things that are important to know." Cayde pulled up a holopad. He swipes up then clicks on a file.
"Okay hot shot, the moon isn't a nice friendly place." He laughed slightly looking up at Ryan. "You will be monitored for your own safety." Cayde turns towards the group of Guardians who brought Ryan to the tower. "If there's any trouble, I will send out team Falcon." Cayde gave a nod of respect to them. "I love those guys." He turn towards the ship. "This baby is a monster. It can get you in an out before the Hive can ever track you, the Vex on the other hand." Cayde sighed as he turned towards a broken down version of the ship. "Well let's just say backup is greatly appreciated." Cayde points to the ship then turns to Ryan, "I'll give you details on the way out there."
Ryan enters the ship. He grips the controls. The controls felt almost alien like. The layout of the ship frustrated him. Ryan finally got the ship to hover after about 3 minutes of button pushing. A strip of green lights lit the way towards the end of the runway.
The ship roared to life as he applied pressure forward to what looked like two metal bars that were mounted on each side of him. He pushed the bars harder causing him to constantly leave Earth's atmosphere. The stars shine bright around him.
Cayde's voice was heard clearly over the communicator, "She's fast isn't she?" He laughs quietly, "Head towards the Moon guardian."
Ryan narrowed his eyes, "And if I go back to Saturn?"
Cayde replied quickly, "If you don't Guardian , then I'll hunt you down myself. Trust me, I'm good if I'm motivated. And I'm not often motivated. Unless there's free stuff involved. Anyway, I'm rambling. Get going."
Ryan's eyes open wide, "To the Moon then."
Before Ryan knew it he was heading for a landing near the Hellmouth.
Cayde cleared his throat. "Ryan I'm going to upload a map to your ghost. Head towards the bright red areas. That's where we recorded the latest activity."
Ryan sighed as he loaded his suros. "Copy. Sir, how do I know what I'm actually looking for."
"You don't, just don't let your guard down," Cayde said as he tossed a card up in the air then turned towards the other guardians, "I got 10,000 glimmer on the boy."
The others shook their heads and continued to wait for their call.
Ryan walked through a series of hive like hallways. Sense eyes gave off a light which Ryan used to see where he was going. Sounds of screeching could be heard from the end of the halls.
Sense turn towards Ryan causing him to be blinded by his light. "This isn't some simulation, you can't restart so don't do anything stupid."
Ryan rolled his eyes. He charged up a ball of fire in one hand. He walked closer to the end of the hall. Ryan hid behind one of the pillars. There were 7 Thrall to his right, two Knights with their swords out to his left, and a Wizard straight ahead. Ryan turn towards sense. He took a deep breath.
" Let's bring the heat." Ryan jumped slightly to calm himself down.
He ran out from his cover tossing his ball of fire towards the group of Thrall. A bullet flew from his gun hitting the ball. The explosion left the Thrall in ash. "Burn you lowlives."
Ryan ran towards the Knights while Sense flew off to Ryan's right to stay clear of the Knights. The ground shook twice as the Knights swords flew passed Ryan.
Sense flew farther. "Ryan, watch out for the Wizard."
Ryan looked up. He pushed off with his right foot. As he flew through the air he aimed and firing a full clip of his magazine into the Wizards head. The Wizard screeched as its shields fell. Ryan flipped over the Wizard giving it a hard punch in the back which caused flames to stretched around it's body. The Wizard to scream as its insides boiled and popped from Ryan's flaming fist.
Ryan's boots slid against the floor. He turned towards the two Knight. They smacked the ground taunting Ryan.
Ryan rest his gun on his back. He pointed at the two Knights, "Ladies first."
The Knights looked at each other then roared charging at Ryan.
Ryan started to generate his ball of fire in his left hand. "Oh you guys, are you ready to have a blast?"
The Knights ignored him. Ryan jumped up as he shot a fire ball leaving nothing of the knights intacted. Ryan landed on his feet then fell to his back due to the blast. He was covered in Knight goo. "Holy shit, that was.. that was fucking awesome." Ryan remaind on the floor laughing as sense flew closer the him.
He gave Ryan a concerned look, "You know sometimes you scare me."
Ryan wiped the remaining goo off his visor then moved to his feet. He began to walk down farther into the hive structures. Ryan touched the wall to his right which was covered in strange markings. " I've seen this before." Ryan turned towards sense. "I dreamt about this place last night."
Sense glanced at the markings then back at Ryan, "Well Warlocks are able to see the future. Your mind is probably telling you that where we are going is important to you or even the world."
Ryan laughed at sense. He didn't believe him, but he continued to walk deeper into the halls.
10 minutes passed slowly. A loud scream echoed throughout the halls. Ryan quickly grabbed his gun from his back and aimed it forward. "Sense let's go. I have a bad feeling."
Ryan and sense ran towards the noise only to reveal a room that was hollowed out for miles.
Sense looked up and around, "This is impossible, how isn't this place colapsing?"
Ryan ignored him. He saw a swarm of Thrall gathering up in the middle of the room.
A man yelled from a high vantage point, "Yo little red, I wouldn't go charging in like that."
Ryan slowed to a stop looking up at the guy.
The man leaped into the air. Lightning flashed around his armor as he fell several stories. The ground shook sending dust it the the air.
Ryan was surprised to see how fast the group of Thrall had vanished into ash. "Whaaaaaat?! Where the hell did they go?" Ryan spun around trying to find more thralls to kill. "What?! Dude, you took my kills."
The man stood up breaking his fist from the perfect imprint that was caused by his fist of havoc. "Your kills? I didn't see you name on them." The man gave Ryan a long look, "Where are you from?"
Ryan stepped back as the man stepped closer. "Why is that important."
The man pauses in front of Ryan. He drops his shotgun along with a heavy looking autorifle. "Look I'm mean no harm. I don't remember my name. It's been too long since I've heard it."
Ryan looked at his guns. "Sense can you scan him? There must be something about him that we can find."
Sense scanned but found nothing. Ryan looked around the big room. "Hey nameless fellow, where is your Ghost?"
The guy didn't respond. He was too busy tracking a Hives location.
Ryan stepped closer waving his hands trying to make the guy look at him.
The man held out his hand, "Be quiet, they are tracking us."
Ryan stood still, confused. The man looked almost terrified if not filled with rage. "Follow me, I'll take you somewhere safe."
The man made a sprint towards the exit. Ryan and Sense trail the titan. Sense was quiet but Ryan could tell he was scared to death.
The man guided them through the maze of halls to the entrance that Ryan took from the beginning. "Illusion, I need pick up. We have guests."
Ryan watched the titan talk. A ship appeared over them. The ships metal exterior rippled into color. It's white outer shell hovered 15 feet about them.
The man gripped Ryan's armor along with sense. They flashed blue and before they knew it they where in the Titans ship.
Ryan collapsed to the floor gripping his stomach, "Whoa, what the hell was that?"
The man laughed, "It's technology, I grabbed from a ship that landed near my base a couple years ago."
Sense looked shocked, "The Vex were here? What do you know about them?"
The man turned towards sense, "Um, I don-"
An A.I. interrupted him, "Component 43-V.E.X- transfusion-AI was activated 14 months ago. The technology was being escorted to a hidden base located near Mars. The ship was brought off course and crashed here on the Moon."
Sense hovered over to the Titan, “Is there a name that you can go by? It’s really unsettling that you don’t remember who you are and also the fact that you don’t exist in any archives.”
The man smiles, “Call me Eclipse. Many Guardians like you and your red friend over there had shown up causing problems which then causes me to go to work.” Eclipse turns towards Ryan, “Future advice, blend in with your surroundings. It may save you one day.”
Ryan took his helmet off. He gave Eclipse a stare. “What’s wrong with red.:”
Eclipse laughed. He found Ryan amusing. It was like Eclipse saw him as a younger brother. “Little red, what are you doing here any way? You’re like 12, you’re going to get yourself killed out here.”
Ryan looked at sense then back at Eclipse, “My name isn't little red, it's Ryan. For your information I'm 15 bro. Plus what I’m doing here is none of you business.”
Sense flew between both Ryan and Eclipse, “What the boy is saying is that we were sent here to check out some activity that a group had recorded. We kind of join them by mistake. See we are using their ship because we crashed landed near their base. We help them and they help us.”
Eclipse nods, “Take me to them.”
Ryan’s eyes widen, “What?! Are you fucking nuts? Dude we don’t even know you.”
Eclipse laughs, “And you’re in my ship trusting that I’m bringing you to a safe place. You’re not helping yourself, red.”
Sense sends coordinates to the AI, “We are located on Earth.”
The ship roared once more. Within seconds the ship was in Earth 's atmosphere.
Ryan fell back holding his stomach, “Whoa, can you not do that again?”
Eclipse laughed, “ What's wrong can’t handle the jump?”
Ryan gave Eclipse a discusted look. When Eclipse landed his ship,it sat perfectly. The main door opened up. Cayde stood a couple feet from the ship.
Cayde stepped closer, “A human using Vex technology, that’s a new one.” Cayde clapped his hand, “Ryan report.”
Ryan looked at him confused, “Um what?”
Cayde crossed his arms then looks at Eclipse, “A present for me? You shouldn’t have. No really, don’t.” Cayde dismisses himself, “ Hey Ryan, things are sparking up on Mars . I think it would be a good idea to check it out.”
Ryan squinted his eyes at Cayde, “Wait what?” Ryan turned towards sense. “That was it? I didn’t even get to see what the Hive were doing down there and yet still a mission complete?”
Sense laughed, “Oh you’re so lost right now. Look Cayde has plans for us. I think he can see into the future like you can. I found it odd that he sent us to a place on the map where he detected Vex technology but when I looked at it, there was no trace of anything out of the norm.” Sense hovered over Ryan, “I didn’t want to say anything to you because well you actually looked like you were enjoying yourself.”
Ryan smiled, “I hate you I hope you know.”
Sense laughed, “Of course I know that's a lie.
That night Eclipse had to bunk in his ship. He didn’t mind it at all. He knew that the only place that was home was only his ship. Ryan and Sense slept comfortably in their apartment like quarters only to prepare them for what tomorrow would bring them.
