There was a sudden flash of light, and there stood a girl wearing a green sweater with a yellow stripe. Her brown eyes said everything,
*Asriel? Don't you remember me? I'm your Best Friend, Chara!
Asriel's eyes widened, it was a miracle! His best friend, whom he thought had died, was standing right in front of him, he had missed her...
*asriel, move!
The short skeleton shouted at Asriel from the ground where he lay, clutching his sides in pain, and gritting his teeth from the sheer effort of staying conscious.
*He can't hear you
*Don't worry...
Bete Noire, otherwise known as 'Betty', lifted up her hand, and her SOUL, a Pink heart, appeared 'floating' above her palm. The SOUL became a long glowing pink spear, which Betty now held in her hand, she smiled creepily..
*I'll make it quick
Suddenly the illusion faded, replacing Chara with Betty, she threw the spear at Asriel, who snapped out of his trance and looked, terrified at the thing which he thought was his death. He flinched, and turned his head to the side, both hands in front of his face in a defending position.
T h e r e w a s a s o u n d o f a S O U L b e i n g p i e r c e d..
Asriel, slowly opened his eyes, and seeing that he was still alive, he was struck by realization..
He quickly turned to face Betty, his heart stopped. The sight in front of him made him widen his eyes, his mouth opened slightly and fear was immediately replaced by a horrified expression.
*SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNSS!!!!!
His voice broke when he screamed his friend's name, and rushed to Sans' side as Betty retracted her spear, the tip stained with a bit of blood and, most importantly, Sans' SOUL.
In the heat of the moment, Sans had activated his remaining powers and teleported in front of Asriel, protecting the Prince and sacrificing himself instead. When the spear pierced his SOUL, his eyes changed from blue to a dim white, blood dripped out of his mouth and small parts of his skull broke off and turned to dust.
*Hang in there Sans! I'll think of something!
Sans' SOUL, now in the possession of Betty, did not fade but instead was held in her palm.
*Here Kumu, enjoy.
A pink demon-like 'thing' went up to the SOUL, and opened its mouth..
*I'll-... I-
Asriel broke off as tears ran down his cheeks, he squeezed his eyes shut and gave out a sob.
*I-... I'm so sorry... Sans..
Asriel cried, tears pouring down as he held his dear friend
A weak voice said,
*asriel...
The Prince opened his eyes, green pupils meeting faded white ones, Sans gave him a small smile..
*enjoy the future for me..
Asriel let out a horrified gasp.
*No.. NO! SANS!!
The SOUL was in Kumu's mouth, which closed with a sickening SNAP.
Sans' pupils faded, his smile dropped a little as he closed his eyes and his body became dust..
Asriel, mind not functioning, could only stare at the place where his friend once was. And suddenly broke down, he kneeled over on the ground and just cried, crying that he couldn't save his friend, and that he died because of that.
Betty just watched him, smile widening and giggling at the Prince's state.
Elsewhere:
A coffee mug, with the picture of a bone above the word 'Appetit', smashed on the ground. A skeleton, by the name of Gaster, stood slightly hunched over, a skeletal hand clutching his chest, and a panicked expression on his face.
His eyes, the right one red and the other blue, the red remained the same while the blue faded, becoming a normal white one instead..
Back to the scene:
A shadow fell over Asriel's eyes as tears flowed freely onto the ground, he gritted his teeth, anger and grief filled the young prince, he activated his own powers, a black stripe appearing on both cheeks as he looked at Betty, he lifted up a hand and a glowing rainbow fireball appeared.
*He was my friend
Asriel threw the fireball at Betty, but Kumu turned into a shield in front of his partner, the fireball hitting it instead but not leaving a single mark. Asriel formed another fireball, but suddenly remembered Sans' words to him;
*we have to warn the others
A tear formed in his eye as he dropped the fireball, making a small explosion and allowing him to escape out of a hole that he made in the wall behind him.
*It's alright Kumu, we'll get him later
Betty patted Kumu's head affectionately.
*But since we didn't get him... I will need that HATE substance,
