fair warning that i fail at any kind of human interaction, and that includes writing about it :)
"I was thinking, we've had an eventful start to the games, and it would be nice to have a day to sit down and just... talk, I guess. Thoughts?" Everly suggested as she took a swig of her newly filled up drink bottle.
"That's a good idea," I smiled slightly, nibbling on a cracker. With all the death happening, it really would be nice to just lie in 'bed' and chat as if we weren't in an arena battling to the death.

"So... do you have any family back at home?" I asked her after she had finished organizing herself as per usual.
"Yeah. Parents and a sister," she responded as she returned to her sleeping bag, smiling as she mentioned her sister. "Her name is Diana, she's 11 and she's my favourite person on this planet. She's got our mum's light brown hair, but we have our father's eyes - a sorta blue-ish, kinda greyish colour. Diana is honestly the nicest person in the world, she's so sweet and innocent and she wouldn't hurt a fly."
Seemingly realising that she had been rambling, Everly flushed pink. "That's enough about my sister, though. What about you?"
"I've got a mum. That's it." I shrugged.
"Oh, I just remembered, your interview... I'm sorry," Everly whispered.
"It's okay. I think Diana and Breeze would get along well," I forced a smile. Everly nodded, twisting a lock of blonde hair around her finger/
"Yeah. They would've. What do you do in your spare time?" she asked, veering the conversation away from the treacherous topic of family.
"Read. Draw. Throw knives. My life is pretty boring. You?" I listed.
"Ehhh... spend time with my sister and exploring the forest. I guess we're both very boring people," Everly giggled.
"Yeah. Anyone you like?" I asked. Everly blushed.
"There's this one boy, the same age as me, and he's so hot," she gushed. I laughed. "What about you? Any special guy in your life?"
"Nah," I shook my head. "No crushes, no celebrity crushes... nothing. I barely have any friends either, to be honest," I shrugged.
"That's a surprise, with your wonderful personality," Everly said sarcastically. I chuckled.
"But seriously, not even a celebrity crush? Don't you think anyone's good-looking or something?" she asked skeptically.
"Nope."
"Not even Finnick Odair?" she raised a blonde eyebrow. I cringed.
"Ugh, don't even mention him," I said in disgust. Everly tooked surprised at how I didn't even bother to hide my hatred of him.
"How come you hate him so much?" she questioned, leaning forward slightly.
"Tell me this - which Games did he win?" I asked.
"The 65th..." she trailed off, and then her eyes widened.
"Yeah." I said bitterly.
"If you don't mind me asking... what was your sister like?" Everly asked quietly. I paused for a moment before responding.
"Breeze... was like a reincarnated angel. She had our father's blonde hair with some brown undertones and his brown eyes, so she was like his replica while I looked like our mother, with her brown hair and grey eyes. Breeze acted like an angel as well - all big smiles and bright laughs. I remember that she always used to smile at random strangers and sing with the birds that fly around our district. Everyone loved her." I reminisced. Everly remained quiet for a while.
"And your father? What happened to him?"
"Died in a power planet accident when I was young. I barely remember him at all, and mum doesn't talk about him, ever." I said in a monotone.
"Did Finnick... kill Breeze?" Everly ventured nervously.
"Yeah. They were the final two." I said shortly.
"I know it's been three years and all, but I once pushed a boy into a freezing cold lake in the middle of winter because he called me a bitch a few years back. I hold a grudge."

FINNICK'S POV
The Mentor's life, after the pre-game stuff, was really quite boring.
All you did was sit on plush red couches in the Mentor's Lounge and occasionally go to your bedroom and sleep; but most of the time, you stayed glued to the large television screen that took up over half of the wall and your own, smaller, sponser tablet that you carried around. So far, I had accumulated an impressive amount of sponser money (roughly $100,000) but since Ocean and Shark were both doing quite well, that would remain useless for a while.
When both of your tributes die, most mentors tend to hide themselves in their rooms and not come out to watch the rest of the games. So far, Cecelia and Woof from 8, the morphlings from 6, the two from 9 and the two from 10 had done that; both of Haymitch's had passed as well, but he still lingered in the main lounge, alternating between watching the screen and getting drunk as per usual.
It was Day 3 now, and the screen surprisingly focused largely on Electra and Everly, which Johanna was quite pleased about.
"Made the right allies, my girl," she smirked, tipping back a shot. The red-haired woman from 5 looked quite smug as well, and she and Johanna bonded over alcohol and their tributes' alliance. Occasionally, the camera would flit to the careers (Districts 1 and 2), who were lingering at their camp and enjoying their abundance of food and water, but then it would quickly go back to the two girls. They seemed to be discussing their home lives, and I found myself paying extra attention as Electra's voice resounded through the room.
"But seriously, not even a celebrity crush? Don't you think anyone's good-looking or something?" I heard Everly question, skepticism clear in her voice.
"Nope." Electra replied bluntly, picking at her nails absent-mindedly.
"Not even Finnick Odair?" Everly asked, and I winced as Electra responded with hate present in her voice. Johanna and Desiree swaggered over to me at her words.
"How come her girl hates you so much?" Johanna asked, jabbing a finger at Desiree, who gave me a pointed look - she already knew why, of course.
"Just keep listening," I said, my eyes not leaving the screen as Electra proceeded to explain exactly why she despised me. Johanna looked taken aback as the tribute from 5 bitterly revealed what I had done to deserve her hatred.
"Damn, you killed her baby sister? Finnick, if this girl wins she's going to slander your name on live television, you realise this right?" Johanna said, casually flopping on the seat next to me, Desiree following her with much more poise.
"Yeah, I realise that. I'm going to have to do so much damage control with that girl when she wins," I sighed, running a hand through my bronze-brown hair.
"When? Excuse you," Johanna snapped, elbowing me in the side half-playfully.
"It's nice to know that you're rooting for my girl, Odair, but if you want Electra to forgive you you're going to have to bend backwards, do a handstand for an hour straight and jump off a cliff onto a group of sharp rocks to make her even begin to stand you," Desiree smirked, flipping her vibrant crimson hair over her shoulder.
"I know."
"And don't even try to charm her," Desiree added, shooting me a glare.
"Damn."
