Confidence is the power to stand up for yourself, stand out of the crowd and just be you. Do you, I call it. Well, knowing about all the factors that contribute to self-doubt throughout the first few years of high school, to define insecurity, minding internal and external factors will be of effective use in terms of this particular topic. It requires more self-understanding for one person to just stand out, stick out or whatever word you may think to use, and this always starts with ourselves. Well, you might wonder why I placed this chapter after the previous one, since it proves to be of more complexity and rather deserves to be somewhat in the middle of the book, but this is one of the fundamentals of self-finding. Once we know who we are and our purpose, there are always other reasons, other obstacles and other problems to face just after knowing who we really are, because in reality, not everyone will like or enjoy the real you. This brings me to my own findings of the concept “Self-Cloning,” which is the ability on an individual to live a life that is quite the opposite of reality, and as they call it, “cliché.”
Once we find ourselves, understand ourselves, know what we like, what we hate, and how we behave towards our closed ones in particular, and society in general, there is one more battle to face, which is killing all the insecurities. Well, what does one mean, when they mention the word insecure? Well, without direct translating the word, and without using any dictionary in any manner, insecure is a composition of two words, -in, which literally means the opposite, and –secure, which refers to assurance, loyalty, faith, trust and all aspects of humanity that you may think of, and have a strong connection with the principles of living. Combining these two words however, it all leads us to one concrete definition, without any dictionary, that insecurity is the state of being unsure of your inner self, of who you really are, of what you are, of where you come from, where you are and where you are going, putting into consideration all the aspects of humanity that we almost always apply on a daily basis.
In most cases, our perspective on this particular topic is always too broad and bias, thus requires more than what we have already. Truth shall be told; since our childhood, we have been hearing all these basic principles of humanity, either through our parents, neighbours, older siblings or society itself. There were those times in life where our parents told us not to fear them and learn how to express ourselves, or when they taught us how to fuse with society, without violating the basic rights of the next individual, directly or indirectly. This includes speaking up for ourselves in whatever situation we find ourselves, expressing ourselves in whichever way we feel and find comfortable, irrespective of all the societal critics, and most of all, doing what makes us feel more productive, for our maximum capability is the best remedy for whatever insecurities we might have.
Having said that, the key to eliminating all kinds of self-doubt is respecting the basics of humanity in terms of an individual himself, be it self-trust, self-faith, self-reliance; it all starts with ourselves. Yeah, it is not simple, and it obviously doesn’t take just a day, a week or a month for it all to go away, but more than that. It requires more than just knowing yourself, because sometimes we get to know ourselves and there we are, asking ourselves, “what then?’ The answer is simple and clear. You. You are it. Without any doubts whatsoever, you are the greatest weapon to unlocking, unleashing, discovering and expressing the real you without anything else setting you back. Everything else around you depends on your own life decisions, and that includes how flexible you can get, and if you can really keep up. Well, without giving off the wrong message, and without withholding knowledge of great importance in living life to the fullest, if you know who you are, you know your purpose, and if you know your purpose, there is no need to hold it back. A sunflower is better off with the sunlight, but once it experiences shortages, what will become of it than just being an ordinary flower? The sun makes it unique, and unique shall you be with your faults. You are not weird, you are just different, and being different doesn’t make the rest better than ourselves.
