There's a light knock at my door. "Fuck off." I spit.

"That's not very nice." Andy says, walking inside.

"Neither is telling on me." I reply.

"I had too." He says. "I'm two years older than you and even people in my classes are talking about you."

"So? I want to be known. I want people to know I'm not going to stand for any shit."

"I know." Andy says. "You were daddy's little girl and he taught you everything he knew, changed your mind set."

"No, he wanted me to be ready for the world." I reply. "And he did a fucking good job."

"Your face is bleeding." He tells me.

"I know." I reply.

"Is that glass?" Andy asks.

"Luckily mom has bad aim when she's drunk so most of it missed my face." I reply.

"Mom threw a glass at you?"

"Yup." I sigh, zipping up my bag.

"So you're leaving?"

"For tonight, maybe tomorrow." I reply, putting it over my shoulder.

"Just slow down for a second." Andy asks.

"Look Andy, your mommy's golden boy and I'm daddy's girl, we were bought up differently. Feels like mom did her best with you then gave up the second time."

"Just let me fix your face." He sighs.

"Not until I take pictures." I reply.

"Don't be stupid." Andy says, brushing off a piece of glass.

"Leave me alone." I hiss, pushing him away from me. "I'll see you in school."

I creep out the front door and head to Val's house.

"You must be Hayley." A man I can only assume is Val's dad says.

"Yes sir. Are you Mr Chester?" I ask.

"Please, call me Tony." He smiles, opening the door wider for me.

"Valery is upstairs." A woman says. "I'm Julie, her mom."

"Hayley." I smile. "Thank you so much for having me tonight."

"Hayley is that you?" Val questions from upstairs.

"Yeah it's me." I call.

"Come on up!"

I smile at her parents before carrying my bag up the stairs. I open her door to see her room is large and beautiful. "Are you okay?" She asks me.

"Not really." I sigh.

"Need a hug?" She asks, opening her arms.

"Maybe." I smile, leaping on to her bed and hugging her.

"What's wrong?"

"It'll take a while to tell." I sigh.

"Luckily we have all night." She smiles.

"Where do I begin?" I laugh.

"The start, tell me your story. Who is Hayley Michaels?"

I take a deep breath before sharing something with her I'd never told anyone else. "Since I was born I was daddy's little girl. He taught me everything practical I know, like how to change a tire and stuff but he also taught me how to fight and how to stand up to people..."

Flashback

"One two, one two." My dad says quickly as six year old me punches his large palms. "Faster Hayley, come on you've got more strength than that." He jeered.

With all the might my little body had I punched his hands over and over.

End of flashback

"When I was seven he bought me a punching bag and showed me how to fight properly, like he did, I didn't know it at the time but he did cage fighting.

Flashback

"And if you see someone being mean to somebody else what do you do?" He asks.

"Stand up for them and do what's right." A younger version of myself would reply.

"And if they get violent?"

"Kick their ass!"

I looked over at my mom, she was drinking wine all the time but little old me didn't know what it was.

"Why does mommy always drink that?" I ask.

"It's her favourite kind of juice, she loves it."

End of flashback.
