HPOV:
I anxiously waited for Zayn to text me back. I was waiting for explanations as to where he was. Normally, I wouldn't have cared. He didn't need to answer to me but this time was a little extreme. When I woke up this morning, the house was empty.
I had walked around looking for Zayn but there was no sign of him anywhere. I gave him a ring but he didn't answer and the same had gone for Liam. Neither of them were responding. I had waited a few hours, thinking that they had gone out for a few hours but when it started getting late, I became concerned.
I was strumming a bit on my guitar when my phone finally went off.
"Where are you?" I said into the phone.
"Hey, Harry," he answered nervously.
"I woke up and your were gone. What the hell?"
"Yeah, sorry, Haz. Liam had an emergency."
"What do you mean? Is he okay?" First the phone call with Stevie and now an emergency. Why wasn't Liam saying anything?
"Well there was just something he had to take care of."
"Where?" I was getting tired of the vague answers and I knew he was trying to beat around the truth. I needed answers.
"Uh, well, we're in the states," he finally confessed.
What?
"Are you kidding me? What the fuck, Zayn?" My voice rose.
What the hell was going on? They had left in the middle of the night to fly to the states. And for what?
"Why are you there? And where?"
"Okay, first, calm down Harry. Don't need you to be putting yourself in a panic."
I rolled my eyes, "Oh come on, Zayn."
There was a few seconds of silence before he answered.
"We're, uh, we're in New York, Harry."
I clenched my jaw and immediately, went to pack my things. Heat rose in my cheeks as I flung things into my bag, not bothering to fold them.
"Harry?" I didn't answer.
"Come on, Harry, answer. We won't be gone long." Still no answer. I didn't eve know why I was still on the phone. I pulled the phone away to hang up when I heard another voice come on the line.
"Harry?" It was Stevie. Quickly, I put the phone back up to my ear and answered.
"Stevie? What's going on? Why are you with Zayn? Where's-".
"Whoa, Harry, slow down. Breathe for a minute."
I closed my eyes and listened to her commands. I took a deep breath and ran a hand through my hair.
"You okay?" she asked. I was still a little shaken but my heart was beginning to slow it's pace.
"Yeah," I said as I sat on the edge of the bed.
"Good, now what Zayn said was true but don't do anything stupid. He came here with Liam but they'll be coming back, okay?"
"But why are they there? What was the emergency?"
She breathed a sigh, "It's not really my place to say. You'll have to ask Liam when he gets back. I'm sure he'll tell you."
"Then why does Zayn know?" I asked, furrowing my brow. As much as I hated to admit it, I didn't like being on the outside of things.
"I don't know, Harry. Maybe it was because you were, um, already going through...things. He didn't want to add to it."
She was talking about us and if that was true, then Liam was right but I was still upset. I figured he could have at least given me a heads up. Especially if they were leaving the country.
"When will they be back?"
I heard her ask Zayn and she returned to the phone.
"Zayn thinks he'll be leaving tomorrow but Liam, I'm not sure. Zayn says that he'll be here until you guys come back for the show."
"But what about you?"
"Um, what about me, Harry? I'll be here for a while. I kind of live here."
I lowered my voice, "I mean, are you coming back with Zayn?"
"Oh, um, no Harry. I can't. I have work. You know this."
I did but it didn't hurt to ask; at least, I thought it didn't. I now felt disappointed.
"Are you alright?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm okay," I said, distantly. I was lying but I didn't want her to worry. There wasn't much she could do from so far away.
"I'm going to go now, Harry. You'll be okay."
I nodded, "Alright."
"Do you want to talk to Zayn?"
"No, it's fine."
There was a small sigh and she knew I was lying. She always knew.
"Bye, Harry," and the line went dead. My chest began to tighten as the dial tone buzzed through the line. I hung up the phone and then tossed it onto the bed. I took a few deep breaths and calmed myself. There was only about a week left before we had to be back in New York for the show. I needed to make it until then. I had to.
