Heavyn's POV
I think you’re supposed to dress nice on the first day of school.
Screw that shit.
I was very comfy in a pair of cotton shorts, a navy football t shirt, which had the number 4 and then Horan on the back, and my Nike Free Runs. I did put some effort into my hair. Well, kind of. I straightened it which took all of five minutes. Safe to say, I didn’t do a very thorough job. But it’s Florida in August. The humidity is crazy, so I’ll come home looking like a fuzz ball, anyway.
As for makeup, I kept it simple. Mascara and eye liner.
You would think since I’m a cheerleader, I would attempt to dress up nicer. But here’s the thing, I hate cheerleading. I only do it so I can say I’ve done another sport and so Niall and I can both share the experience of Friday Night Lights.
I’m not even good at cheerleading. I can barely do a handstand. But I fit the demographic, blonde, and since I’m a senior they took it easy on me and I made the varsity team.
But it has been a goal of mine to do almost every sport at this school. Freshman year I did swim, track, golf, and tennis.
Sophomore year I did golf, tennis, basketball, and volleyball. Somehow I made varsity on volleyball and basketball. I think you can tell we don’t have a good volleyball and basketball team.
Junior year I did golf, tennis, lacrosse, cross country, and flag football.
And senior year I’m going to do golf, tennis, and cheerleading. I actually have golf tryouts today after school. Cheerleading tryouts were over the summer and tennis is a spring sport so I’m not worrying about that until January.
Now, I’m really not an athletic person. My school isn’t known for its good athletics, and therefore it is really easy to make it onto our sports team. Hell, a freshman from Ireland managed to make it onto the varsity football team. But I’m not complaining, my varsity letter has a lot of pins on it thanks to all of the untalented people at my school.
Back on topic, the last addition to my first day attire was one of those stupid paper crowns all seniors wear on the first day of school. I don’t know if other schools do it, but at Waterview every year on the first day of school, seniors wear these crowns.
I stood in front of the mirror. This is my last first day in high school. I put my back pack on. Most kids have full backpacks on the first day of school. Not me, bitches. I’ve already taken all my hard classes, this year I have nothing but BS classes, aside from AP Bio. But I like biology so who gives a crap?
“C’mon, Jackson,” I said, to my Bull Mastiff, who was comfortably sprawled out on my bed. He’s the ugliest thing, but I love him to pieces. He’s not even a year old yet, but he weighs over 100 pounds. I think I feed him too much. Niall bought him for me in March for my birthday. I had been joking when I told him I wanted a dog, but I guess he didn’t pick up on that because now I own a 102 pound Bull Mastiff who practically drags me along when I try to take him on a walk. Thanks, Niall. What would I do without you? I don’t think Niall expected me to actually keep Jackson. We’re at that point in our relationship where we give each other weird things for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, ect. It just so happens he got me dog.
