Bromance's Are Sweet
Kayli's PoV
After the guys hit the showers, I quickly took advantage of the empty locker room and showered the day away, this time remembering my clothes. Feeling pleasantly refreshed I headed to the cafteria and was waiting in line for my food when Sam approached me, “Hey you, how was practice?”
“It was good, everything is becoming like second nature again. It was the first day I actually felt like the old player I used to be” I said honestly.
“That’s great, I knew you would get back into the game easily” he smiled, throwing some meatloaf on his plate as we moved down the buffet line.
I shuddered, meatloaf was disgusting in my eyes, no matter how many people tell me it tastes better than it looks. I grabbed an apple, hearing my Mom’s nagging voice in my head to always eat my fruits and vegetables. Satisfied with my plate, I turned to find a place to sit and eat. My eyes met Will’s, who enthusiastically waved me over.
I could still feel Sam’s presence behind me, “Um, I’m going to head over and sit with Will and Xavier.”
His eyes flickered with disappointment, that’s when my brilliant response was, “You’re welcome to join me.”
“Are you sure, I don’t want to intrude” he said, eyeing the table where Will and Xavier were currently shoving straws in their noses and making faces at each other.
“Oh course I’m sure, we all are bunkmates so it’s about time we all got to know each other better” I smiled, nudging Sam forward to the table.
I grabbed a spot next to Xavier and motioned for Sam to take a seat across from me next to Will. Xavier, who was so focused on Will, didn’t even notice me until I laughed at the monkey face he was currently giving Will. He spun around and his cheeks grew pink as he tried to inconspicuously remove the straws that were currently lodged in his nose. I shook my head in disbelief, who knew Xavier was such a goofball. A day ago I didn’t even know the guy knew how to smile.
“Hey guys” I greeted them both with a smile before diving into my plate of food, these practices left me famished.
“Hey Spunky” Will said, returning my smile with his own sweet one.
“Spunky?” Sam asked, looking between me and Will.
“Don’t ask” I said, shaking my head still not sure if I liked Will’s nickname for me, I mean a cartoon dog, really?!
