A/N I know, I know, I was suppose to update Wednesday but this part just seemed to have a mind of it’s own and it kept getting longer and longer. Then I didn’t like it so I had to rewrite parts of it. Excuses, excuses, but hey it’s longer than I intended so that’s always a plus, right? Well, enjoy and vote/comment if you like it : )
Chapter 8 (part 2)
Sam’s PoV
I shook my head in amusement as Kayli stormed out of the room, my girl is feisty, I’ll give her that. I sat up, my head throbbing as last nights events caught up with me.
“Ugh my brain” I complained, rubbing my temple.
“So…” Brent said, closing his bedroom door while he walked over towards me.
“So…” I said, knowing where this conversation was going and not in the mood to deal with it right now.
“Did you not hear anything I said to you yesterday” he snapped, smacking me on the back of the head.
“Dude!” I yelled, rubbing my head, while glaring at Brent.
“Hey man, that was mild compared to what I would do to any other guy I find sleeping with my sister. Just feel lucky you’re my best friend” he said, sitting on the bed next to me.
“Oh yeah, I feel so lucky right now” I shot back sarcastically.
“So are you going to tell me what happened last night or do I need to beat it out you?” he said, the beginning of a smile playing on his mouth.
“Nothing happened” I mumbled, still rubbing the back of my head.
He raised his hand in the air menacingly, “Okay, okay, no need for anymore violence!” I said, leaning away from him.
“That’s better…now tell me how in the world you ended up sleeping with my sister” he said, giving me a stern look.
“Before I say anything else, just know nothing happened. We just slept, that’s it” I explained.
Brent gave me a “duh” look, “Obviously, or else you would be dead right now…”
“Right…well all I remember is I was sleeping off the alcohol from last night, when I woke up to find Kayli sleeping on the bean bag. Being the gentleman I am, I put her in your bed and when I tried to leave she asked if I would stay. Something had her upset…”
“What do you mean?” he cut me off, a worried expression on his face.
“I’m not sure. All I know is she was upset and didn’t want to be alone” I said, my voice trailing off towards the end as I thought about last night and her tear stained face.
Brent was silent, letting what I said sink in before responding thoughtfully, “I knew something was wrong, but she hasn’t said anything to me about it.”
“Well whatever it is, it had her in tears” I said, gripping the edge of the bed as I thought about what had so upset.
“Thanks” Brent said suddenly, clasping me on my shoulder.
“For what?” I said, looking at Brent confused.
“For being there, she is obviously going through something and I am glad you were able to be there for her when I couldn’t.”
“Um, you’re welcome” I said perplexed, that certainly was unexpected. I thought Brent would chew my a** out, but here he is thanking me.
“Let’s go get something to eat, I am starving” he said changing the subject.
